Raccoons Photobombed This Couple's Wedding Portraits and It Was Simply Magical

"It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."

You've seen dogs in wedding photos, cats in wedding photos, and hey, you've even seen a deer "catch" the bouquet recently. But last weekend, a whole new kind of creature decided to come out of the woodwork for a very special couple's nuptials.

On September 14th, prior to their wedding ceremony in the Tulip Garden at San Francisco's Golden Gate Park, Zach Levenberg and Sarah Schaaf decided to take "first look" photos in private.

Their photographer, Kathryn White, was all ready to capture the moment when Levenberg would see Schaaf in her wedding gown for the first time, but then, there was an unexpected surprise: a group of raccoons emerged to get their own look at the soon-to-be newlyweds. And White wound up snapping photos that look like they came straight out of a fairytale book.

"I freaked out a little bit at first," the photographer told Best Life. "I live in the country, where the raccoons can be pretty vicious and aren't usually out in the daytime."

White suggested fleeing the scene, so Levenberg and Schaaf stepped off the trail, but the raccoons continued to follow them.

Luckily, they came in peace. "They were so curious and friendly," White said.

"They just walked on the path right behind us, and one of them even got up pretty close and stood on his back legs and gave us this look like, 'What are you guys doing?'" she said.

"Then they went on their way and left us standing there, feeling flabbergasted."

The three of them decided that the raccoons gave the wedding their blessing and that it was definitely a good omen. "It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," White said.

Schaaf posted the images on the photo-sharing website Imgur, where she's vice president of community, and they immediately went viral.

Admirers were quick to compare Schaaf to a real-life Disney princess.

"It's funny because I've seen tons of wedding photos like those recently and wanted something like that to happen to me," White said. Which just goes to show that dreams really do come true, just like Walt Disney said.
