Ali Wong: Single Lady
Coming October 8
Netflix

Ali Wong first rose to prominence with her blisteringly funny 2016 Netflix original stand-up Baby Cobra, followed by Ali Wong: Hard Knock Wife in 2018, Ali Wong: Don Wong (2022) and now the 42-year-old comedian is back with her fourth Netflix special: Single Lady. “After a whirlwind couple of years, Ali Wong returns to the stage to dish on the highs, lows and surprises of dating post-divorce,” Netflix says. Here’s everything you need to know about Wong’s hilarious new offering.

When and Where Can I Watch It?

Ali Wong: Single Lady

Single Lady will premiere on Netflix on October 8. “Single Lady was filmed as part of Wong’s residency at The Wiltern in Los Angeles when she headlined Netflix Is A Joke Fest,” according to Tudum. “Though she didn’t perform in her signature animal print this time, she’s still got plenty of sizzling takes and life advice for everyone. “

She’s Still Got It

Netflix gently reminds fans to expect typical raunchiness from the comedian. “Known for her unvarnished takes on everything from the challenges of monogamy to what makes feminism awful, Wong takes the stage once more, this time in a new phase of her life — she’s in her divorced mom era. In Single Lady, the comedian opens up about postdivorce life and the quest for love,” Tudum says.

Newly Single(ish)

Wong was thrilled to be back in front of a live audience again. “It feels good,” she toldVariety. “It’s nice because a lot personally has happened in the past year. I’m not single now, but I was single for a long time after I got divorced. It was so compelling to talk about my life as a single woman. When practicing, I was in the habit of talking as if I was still single. What’s strange is now [my romantic life] is public information. For me, stand-up is still an abstraction of truth — it does not represent the whole me. Out of respect for my relationship, I have to practice putting them in the past tense.”

Dating Bill Hader

Wong is currently dating Bill Hader after splitting from husband Justin Hakuta in 2022. “I didn’t expect the news of my divorce to be so widespread and public,” Wong said during one of her Wiltern shows earlier this year, according to Rolling Stone. “I felt really embarrassed and ashamed, but I didn’t realize that all of these media outlets were acting like a bat signal letting all potentially interested men know. I’ve never been pursued this much in my life.”
