They were married for over 20 years and share two children, but now, Caitlyn Jenner and Kris Jenner have pretty much cut off contact, according to Caitlyn. In a new interview with the UK talk show This Morning, Caitlyn revealed that she no longer speaks directly to Kris and that they only communicate through Caitlyn's manager. The Olympic gold medalist called deterioration of their relationship "sad."
But, Caitlyn is not completely out of the Kardashian realm despite her distance from Kris. In fact, she was on This Morning to promote a new documentary titled House of Kardashian about the Kardashian-Jenner family, in which she's featured. Kris' ex said that she chose to be part of the documentary to "protect" the family. Read on to find out more.

Caitlyn and Kris had a contentious split.
Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images for Yeezy Season 3Caitlyn and Kris separated in 2013, and at that point, they said that they would remain friends.
"We are living separately and we are much happier this way," they told E! News in a joint statement. "But we will always have much love and respect for each other. Even though we are separated, we will always remain best friends and, as always, our family will remain our number one priority."
In 2015, Caitlyn came out as transgender, opening up in a profile with Vanity Fair. In the article, for which Kris was also interviewed, the exes disagreed on aspects of their story and spoke negatively about their marriage.
As reported by Entertainment Tonight, there were ups and downs from there with the two attempting to patch things up on their reality shows. But, in 2017, a major rift occurred when Caitlyn released her memoir, The Secrets of My Life. As shown on Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Kris was very upset by how she was portrayed in Caitlyn's memoir. She was angry that Caitlyn seemed to blame her for issues in their marriage and accused her of controlling their money. Kris also refuted Caitlyn's claims that she knew more about Caitlyn's gender dysmorphia than she let on to the public.

Now, Caitlyn says she and Kris don't talk.
Speaking to This Morning, Caitlyn shared an update on her relationship with Kris—or lack thereof.
"Well, Kris, I really never talk to anymore. Yeah, I know, it’s sad," the 73-year-old said. "If there’s any communication, Sophia Hutchins is my manager and she kind of runs the show, so she talks to 'em ... When you have as many kids as I have, you’re closer to some than you are to others … I certainly see them, we do this and that. I’m much closer to the Jenner side with Brandon and Brody and my son Burt, my daughter Casey. But Kris, I don’t really have any more contact with her. It's kind of sad, because we went through a lot ... There's just a lot there."
Caitlyn has six children: She welcomed Burt and Cassandra Jenner with first wife Chrystie Scott; Brandon and Brody Jenner with second wife Linda Thompson; and Kendall and Kylie Jenner with Kris. Caitlyn was also stepfather to Kris' four children: Kourtney, Kim, Khloé, and Rob Kardashian, who she welcomed with her first husband, Robert Kardashian.
Caitlyn took part in a docuseries about the Kardashians.
House of Kardashian is a three-part docuseries that will air on the UK's Sky Documentaries channel and the streaming service NOW on Oct. 8. The Kardashian family did not take part in the new show, but some people who know them do, including Caitlyn. On This Morning, Caitlyn said she chose to be interviewed for House of Kardashian "to protect my family."
She explained, "I'm a parent, I love my children. You know, I have 10 children. You kind of know the Kardashian side plus a little bit of the Jenner side with Kendall and Kylie, but I think a lot of times in the media you get totally misrepresented. And so I wanted to do it just to say, first of all how much I love my kids, and second of all how proud I am of them and what they’ve been able to accomplish in their life. It is absolutely an amazing story of accomplishment."
Caitlyn thinks Kim is underestimated.
Kevin Mazur/Getty Images for Yeezy Season 3Caitlyn praised Kim in particular during her This Morning interview.
"I talk about Kim wanting to be a celebrity, she wanted to get into that world, and I told her that’s great, but you know what? Being in that world is a business and you have to treat it as a business … And there is nobody that has treated it more like a business than Kimberly," Caitlyn said. "She’s very smart. She’s working on a law degree and is going to be a lawyer pretty soon. Amazing, amazing person, and sometimes that gets lost."

Kris characterized her status with Caitlyn differently.
Kevin Mazur/WireImage via Getty ImagesIn the 2022 ABC News special The Kardashians, Kris shared an update on her relationship with Caitlyn. It differs from how Caitlyn described it more recently.
"We’re fine. We’re friends. I see her when she’s at a family thing. It’s settled down a lot," Kris said (via Entertainment Tonight). She also said of Caitlyn coming out, "I think it was a big shock. It’s a scary thing to go through, because you know nothing about it. It’s a subject that I never thought I would have to directly deal with, confront, be understanding about something that I didn’t understand."
Similarly, in a 2021 interview with WSJ. Magazine, Kris said of their relationship, "I think it's very respectful. She's the father of two of my kids, and so that speaks volumes."
