Kourtney Kardashian Calls Kim "Selfish" and "Egotistical," Steps Back From Family

The sisters had an explosive fight on the season premiere of The Kardashians.

The Kardashians rose to fame as a tight-knit family and often talk about putting each other above everything else, but, recent episodes of their Hulu reality show have showcased a major rift between two members. Sisters Kim and Kourtney Kardashian have been feuding, and their issues were detailed in Season 3 of The Kardashians, which concluded in July. Now, the show is already back for Season 4, and the premiere episode featured a very contentious phone call between the sisters.

In the call, Kourtney called Kim "selfish" and a "narcissist," while Kim claimed that Kourtney's friends and children talk about her behind her back. Kourtney also expressed, "I don't need you guys anymore" in reference to her famous family. Read on to find out more about the situation, including what led to Kim and Kourtney's feud in the first place.

Season 3 of The Kardashians, which aired from May to July 2023, covered Kourtney and Kim's recently strained relationship. One major factor had to do with each sister's collaboration with the fashion brand Dolce & Gabbana. Designers Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce worked with Kourtney on her May 2022 wedding to Travis Barker, including hosting the event in Italy and dressing Kourtney, Barker, and some of their guests, including the Kardashian-Jenner family.

The problem, as Kourtney saw it, was that not longer after, Kim served as the creative director of a new fashion show inspired by pieces from the brand's archive. Kourtney had also used archival Dolce & Gabbana pieces for her wedding, and she felt that Kim was taking away from her event and putting a money-making opportunity above her family.

The siblings' issues go back further than this, however. On their previous reality show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, the two got into a physical fight amid a rift involving Kourtney's desire to no longer film the show.

The sisters talked out their issues and were OK for a time.

Kourtney and Kim's Season 3 disagreement came to a head when Kim tried to explain her reasoning for doing the Dolce & Gabbana collaboration and claimed that she had tried to differentiate it from Kourtney's wedding.

In her confessional, Kim said (via People), "I got married in Italy. Am I saying you copied me by getting married in Italy? Who performed at my wedding? Andrea Bocelli. Who performed at Kourtney's wedding? Andrea Bocelli. You stole my [expletive] wedding country and my wedding performer." (Kim married ex-husband Kanye West in Italy in 2014.)

Kim and Kourtney then seemingly made up by agreeing to disagree about the situation and recognize that they're very different people who don't handle things in the same way.

Now, the feud has heated back up.

Season 4 of The Kardashians premiered on Sept. 28 and brought with it another intense conversation between Kim and Kourtney, as reported by BuzzFeed. Both sisters talked about how watching footage from the show made them get upset with each other all over again. "I think last season was really hard. What's harder than living it in real time is watching it back in the edit, which isn't a natural way of living," Kourtney said in a confessional.

It was then explained that Kourtney decided not to go on a family trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico after a fight with Kim that took place over the phone. The phone call, which was filmed, included Kourtney accusing Kim of being noticeably unhappy at her wedding.

"You complained from the second you got there until the second you left. That's what it's about," the 44-year-old told her sister. "Forget about you couldn't be happy, you couldn't be happy for me. You couldn't be happy that I was the center of attention and you weren't."

"You're talking about the [expletive] details because it's all your egotistical, selfish mind can think about," Kourtney said when Kim argued that she just didn't like the look and theme of the wedding.

Kim responded, "What is it that you feel so low of me? … I want you to dig deep and figure out why you hate me so much and why you're so angry with me? Because all of this never happened. I was so happy for you. Why would I not be happy for you?"

Kourtney said that she doesn't "need" her family.

Kim then said that Kourtney has a "serious vendetta" against the rest of the family. She explained, "You just hate us. You're a different person. We all talk about it." To this, Kourtney said, "I don't need you guys anymore. I don't need to be a part of it."

Kim then claimed that Kourtney's friends complain about her and that Kim has private group chat with them called "Not Kourtney." Kim said that she sets straight the stories Kourtney tells about her family in the chat.

"You are a narcissist. It is all about you," Kourtney said. "Anything you do it's about you and about how it looks to the world about you, so you just want to clear up your facts. Take out my whole [expletive] side of the episode. I don't give a [expletive] what anyone thinks about me."

Kim said Kourtney's own children complain about her.

Kim asked Kourtney if she's happy, to which she said, "Yes, not when I'm on the phone with you. I was five minutes ago." Kim said that everyone was "concerned" about Kourtney's happiness.

"So you're telling me that I'm unhappy and that I'm miserable and that you have a side chat called 'Not Kourtney', but you're telling me that you're happy for me?" Kourtney pondered. Kim then claimed that Kourtney's children complain about her. Kourtney has three children with her ex, Scott Disick. She also has a baby on the way with Barker. Kourtney felt that Kim was just trying to make her feel like everyone was against her.

"You're adding it into a fight to have a side. Like, it's you, and my friends, and my kids, and everyone against me," she said. "It's just like you're a [expletive] witch and I [expletive] hate you."

Kourtney also said during the call, "I have a happy life and the happiness comes when I get the [expletive] away from you guys, specifically you."

They are able to be around each other.

They may have had an intense argument, but Kim and Kourtney have still been able to film The Kardashians together. They reflected on the phone call in a joint confessional.

"It felt to me, like, in the call, Kim was just using any weapon that she could find to hurt me. Just everything," Kourtney said. "Almost like weaponizing everyone against me and I think we both got to a place that we weren't proud of." She continued, "I think the phone conversation was really hurtful and I felt reminded of this characteristic that has been in my family for years, where we say mean things to hurt each other, and it's what I work hard in therapy to change."

Kourtney previously shared at a Hulu event that she removed herself from four family group chats during the drama of Season 3, as reported by BuzzFeed. Sister Khloé Kardashian said that she kept adding Kourtney back in. "I said, 'You're actually going to sit here, you're going to listen to all of us,'" she said.
