Despite the freezing temperatures in the Northeast right now, spring is, believe it or not, in full swing. Known as the season when most people are thawing out from a long winter, this time of year involves cleansing and updating our homes, yards, closets, and drawers. It’s also a great time to reevaluate our everyday beauty and wellness routines. Are we using our better judgment with healthy, chemical-free, and sustainable picks, or is there some room for improvement in our lotions and potions?

I recently reevaluated my own hair, makeup, skin, and everyday beauty products to get rid of tired and chemical-filled items, and the process was enlightening. If you’d like to do the same and hard launch into warmer days looking and feeling totally refreshed, here are 8 new spring beauty buys to consider. Adding these into your rotation (and getting rid of your outdated supplies) can give you the aesthetic pick-me-up you need.

1 | Delara Home 100% Organic Cotton Sheets

Delara Home

If I’m spending a third of my life pressed up against sheets, they better feel amazing and help me avoid unnecessary breakouts and wrinkles.

I recently switched out my regular cotton sheets for a sustainable set from Delara Home. Not only do these Lux Organic Cotton Sheets ($95 for a set) feel so much silkier, but they’re made with certified organic and eco-friendly materials, which is a plus for my sensitive skin.

Seriously, studies show that pesticides, plastics, fertilizers, and chemicals in many bedding products can lead to serious skin and health issues.

2 | Plated SkinScience Intense Serum

I’ve seen three different dermatologists within the past year, and all have mentioned the same product as being the “it” new thing: Plated SkinScience.

Yes, this skincare line is absurdly expensive (I shelled out $258 for the Intense Serum), but the pros are hailing it as one of the few science-backed products revolutionizing the market. Even the Mayo Clinic is selling it (but note that it’s not currently FDA approved).

When I told my most recent derm that I wanted the Lindsay Lohan glowup this spring, she recommended starting with the Intense Serum, which contains platelet-derived exosomes.

“Exosomes are tiny vesicles that cells release, containing proteins, lipids, and genetic material,” the Mayo Clinic says. “These exosomes can stimulate cellular repair and regeneration.”

Using the serum every day should improve skin texture and reduce wrinkles within 6 weeks, based on clinical trials. For me, it was a better choice than painful lasers.

3 | ColorWOW Dream Coat SuperNatural Spray

ColorWow

I have naturally curly hair, which means my frizz can reach new heights on hot and humid days. I ditched straighteners years ago, so blowouts are my only heat-styling method—and using ColorWOW’s Dream Coat SuperNatural Spray ($12) is my secret first step.

Spray it on your damp hair after an everything shower, and you’ll see why I love it. It’s only activated by heat, but once you blow dry, you’ll have shinier, frizz-free hair for three days. One bottle also has a long life: I’ve been using the same one for over three months.

4 | JAPONESQUE SKINTherapy LumeBlade Red Light Therapy & Dermaplaner Wand

JAPONESQUE

While some doctors may claim that red light therapy isn’t doing anything to benefit your skin, there are plenty of small studies to suggest that it could be energizing cells in a way that improves redness, acne, scars, wrinkles, and even rosacea or eczema.

I’ll be honest, I’m not the type that’s going to sit on my couch in a bulky face mask like a TikTok influencer. So, when JAPONESQUE came out with its new LumeBlade Red Light Therapy & Dermaplaner Wand ($24.99), I jumped at the chance to own it.

This wand is basically a dermaplaning razor, which you can use once every two or three weeks to gently remove fuzz and dead skin from your face and neck. But it also has 4 LED red lights to get the supposed benefits of red light therapy as you groom too. I like doing two things at once and not feeling silly about it.

5 | Beauty By Earth Self Tanners

Beauty By Earth

In my world, I’m never fully dressed without a tan. In high school, that meant frequenting the tanning salon (yikes, sorry skin). These days, it means booking a spray tan before a trip or bottle bronzing with a glove at home. If you’ve dabbled in the art of self-tanning, you know that many formulas smell like burnt peanut butter or ruin your clothes and sheets with disgusting orange stains.

Recently, I found Beauty By Earth, an organic and natural beauty line that makes several USDA Certified Organic tanners that are free of synthetic colors, fragrances, parabens, and sulfates. Through trial and error, my favorites are the Self Tanner Body Mousse ($34.99) and the Self Tanning Water Bronzing Face Mist ($29.99).

The Body Mousse is light, airy, and white (applies clear), dries quickly, and smells like vanilla (my husband always thinks I’m wearing a good perfume when I’m “baking”). I like the Face Mist because you can just spray it on your face, neck, and décolletage after a shower for a nice glow about 4-6 hours later. I use it at the start of the week for a pick-me-up, and then by Thursday or Friday, I’ll use the Body Mousse for an all-over weekend tan.

6 | Clinique Even Better Glow Light Reflecting Makeup & SPF 15

Clinique

When it comes to makeup, I’m all about the dupes. Why spend hundreds of dollars during Sephora’s Spring Beauty Sale when you can get the same shades and quality at the drugstore?

For instance, a great dupe to Dior Backstage Face & Body Foundation ($43) is Clinique Even Better Glow Light Reflecting Makeup & SPF 15. It’s much cheaper ($17.64 at Walmart) and has sunscreen in the formula, which is a must for spring and summer.

7 | MakeUp Eraser Farmers Market 7-Day Set

MakeUp Eraser Farmers Market 7-Day Set

Makeup Eraser

There are better ways to wash your face at night than using a face towel. Enter: MakeUp Eraser’s new Farmers Market 7-Day Set ($28). It comes in a cute makeup bag and features 7 makeup eraser pads for every day of the week.

Simply run one under warm water and use one side to erase makeup (even waterproof formulas) and the other side to gently exfoliate. When you’re done, throw it in the laundry to wash for next week. Genius.

8 | NuFace FIX MicroWand

NuFace FIX MicroWand

NuFace

I missed the boat on the original NuFace hype, so I’m excited to try the brand’s latest addition: the FIX MicroWand ($195). It features three customizable treatment modes for your eyes, lips, and other fine line areas, and uses low-level microcurrents to tighten and tone from within.

The brand also has new eye patches—IonPlex® Hydra-Gel Power Patches—which contain electrolytes and magnesium to brighten and hydrate under your eyes… or anywhere else you slap ‘em on. I just started using both products, so I’ll report back.
