The Hardest Zodiac Sign to Date, Astrologers Say

Being in a relationship with these people might feel more like a chore.

Putting yourself out there and dating is hard enough as it is. But add difficult people into the mix and it can start to feel like a chore. You know the types: They're always late (or even stand you up!), talk about themselves the whole time, or are completely emotionally unavailable. If you're sensing these red flags from your new fling, it might be wise to find out their horoscope. Keep reading to hear from astrologers about the hardest zodiac signs to date, from a little flaky to totally uncommitted.

Capricorns simply don't have the time to date. They're career-driven, and they don't want to deal with small talk when they could be working on reaching their goals.

Raquel Rodriguez, astrologer and founder of Your Zodiac, says they make dating feel like a business arrangement rather than a romance: "They can often seem too busy to give the emotional nourishment a relationship needs, making them hard to date for the long-term."

Virgo

As the perfectionists of the zodiac, Virgos set extremely high standards not only for themselves but for the people around them. They like things to be done exactly as they see fit, and they'll never ask anyone for help, which doesn't exactly make them easy to date.

"Dating a Virgo is incredibly stressful, and can feel like a long drawn-out interview," says Tara Bennet, astrologer and spiritual coach at Mediumchat. It can be nice to receive their attention, but one wrong move and they'll be your first critic.

Scorpios are extremely loyal and make for great partners. "The issue is, they can be incredibly secretive, and won't fully open up until they completely trust you—this can take a long time and lots of emotional energy to achieve," says Rodriguez.

These water signs are intense, and when their emotions come to the surface, they feel them deeply. Not everyone is able to handle such passion, which is why Scorpios are harder to date.

Sagittarius

Bennet describes Sagittarians as "the ultimate commitment-phobes." These free-spirited fire signs tend to shy away from serious relationships so they have the freedom to come and go as they please.

The chase is everything to them, and finding the time or patience to sit down with someone on a date isn't their style. Don't be surprised if a Sagittarius stands you up because they forgot they had plans in the first place.

Cancer

While Cancers do offer unmatched loyalty and support, their mood swings and intense feelings can cause some big bumps in the road. Rodriguez says they are extremely sensitive. They need a lot of reassurance, especially in the early stages, which can be draining.

"Dating a Cancer is like an emotional marathon, rewarding but incredibly challenging," says Rodriguez. To make it work, you'll have to give them a lot of attention and encouragement.

Aquarius

Independent Aquarians often prefer being alone and value their privacy more than almost anything. "The hardest part of dating an Aquarius is closing the distance they put between themselves and others," says Bennet. Being self-sufficient isn't a bad thing, but with Aquarius, it can come across as distant and aloof.

As one of the most intellectual zodiac signs, they also tend to get stuck in their own heads. So if you're out on a dinner date and they're deep in thought about something, you can expect to enjoy your meal in silence.
