1 | Shop the Appliance and Furniture Aisles First in the Morning

The early bird gets the best deals, according to Kristen Markel, a Costco superfan and voice behind Warehouse Wanderer.

One of the biggest money-saving opportunities at Costco is "the Manager’s Special,” she says. "Local managers can lower prices on specific items to move them quickly, often marking them down significantly below the regular cost."

To get these deals, Markel suggests arriving when Costco opens and walking a few specific aisles to check for discounts. Begin with the appliance and furniture sections because that's where the best lowered prices are, she says, then work your way around the rest of the warehouse.

Another hot tip? "Look for handwritten price tags; that's your sign of a great deal. Act fast, though—supplies are always limited," Markel says.

2 | Look for Early Deals in the Seasonal Aisle

Several retail experts suggest checking out the seasonal items as soon as you walk into Costco.

"Costco is known for changing up its seasonal aisles, and this is where you'll often find some of the best-hidden gems," says Alexander Ketter, Lead Consumer Expert at Coupons.com says. "Whether it's for Christmas, summer, or even the back-to-school season, these aisles are regularly updated with unique and limited-time offers."

Allie Echeverria, MS, RD, LD, modern day home economics expert, agrees. She says the inventory for the next holiday will likely start dropping in this aisle about 2-3 months in advance (i.e. Christmas decorations debut in early September at some locations). It's in these early days that you can find some of the best deals.

New, limited-time finds can be found in the international aisle, which can help you experience incredible flavors from various global cuisines. In fact, if you're planning an upcoming party, this should be your first stop.

“Whether you're after Korean BBQ sauces or exotic snacks, there's always something new," Ketter says. "Many of these items are not available in regular supermarkets and can be a great way to explore new dishes."

4 | Score Discounts on Supplements and Specialty Items in the Pharmacy Aisles

Costco's pharmacy counter is a great place to save on your prescribed medications, but don't breeze by the other aisles offering OTC remedies. You can find great deals that are often overlooked.

“From vitamins and supplements to top-quality protein powders, Costco frequently stocks premium items at a fraction of the cost you would pay elsewhere," Ketter says. "You might even find specialized products like essential oils, massage tools, or even yoga gear, which aren't heavily promoted."

Each Costco has different items depending on the climate and local cuisine, so if you're traveling or live in a Costco-heavy area that has more than one warehouse, it's often worth it to pop into a warehouse or take a drive to a different location.

"While staples like toilet paper, bakery goods, and the iconic rotisserie chicken are consistent across stores, other products can vary significantly. I recently found sushi at a local Costco—something I've never seen before!" Markel exclaims.

6 | Don't Forget About the Online "Aisles"

Shopping in a Costco warehouse offers an exciting thrill, but don't sleep on the company's website. Over the years, Costco has seriously upped its online game, offering special deals and discounts for site customers.

For instance, only online shoppers can access the Costco Next program.

"One of the best-kept secrets is the Costco Next program, which connects members directly with top manufacturers for exclusive discounts," Markel says. "The offerings range from fragrances to bicycles, and the selection frequently changes, so if you don't find something immediately, check back often."
