On Jan. 18, People reported that the celebrity couple of quarantine, Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas, had broken up after about a year together. A source told the outlet that the duo, whose coffee runs and dog walks fed a public starved for Hollywood gossip during the pandemic, called it quits, allegedly because de Armas, who was born in Cuba, ultimately didn't want to live in Los Angeles. It's been several days of silence from both stars since their split—and that cardboard cutout—made headlines, but de Armas just posted her first post-Affleck Instagram. On Jan. 21, de Armas broke her social media silence.
ana_d_armas/InstagramDe Armas didn't comment directly on the breakup, but her two Thursday posts to her Instagram Story suggest that she's feeling fine about moving on.
The first is a black-and-white video of her dogs Elvis and Sasha enjoying the breeze during a car ride (captioned by a double heart gif). Fans could definitely choose to read into the choice to share her pups looking particularly carefree in this post-breakup moment, though de Armas could, of course, just be giving us cute pet content for cute pet content's sake. And she promoted an upcoming project.
United Artists ReleasingEarlier this week, it was announced that the theatrical release of the next James Bond film, No Time to Die, would be delayed again. (Last March, it became the first major movie to be pushed back for COVID-related reasons.) The initial plans were for Daniel Craig's last outing as 007 to come out in April of 2020, not long after de Armas broke out in Rian Johnson's ensemble mystery flick, Knives Out.
De Armas plays Paloma in No Time to Die and on Jan. 21, she shared the official James Bond account's Instagram of the poster with the new release date of Oct. 2021. And for her early thoughts on the role, check out Ana de Armas Talks Latina Representation in James Bond.
Having a home base in Los Angeles may not have been the only breaking point in her relationship with Affleck.
ana_d_armas/InstagramAlso on Monday, Page Six reported that a source close to the former couple claimed that Affleck and de Armas also had different ideas about starting a family together. Affleck continues to co-parent his three kids with ex Jennifer Garner, who live in Los Angeles, while de Armas doesn't have any children. "He would not commit to having more kids," the source said. "She is in her 30s. It was a deal-breaker."

Ben's brother Casey Affleck confirmed that the pair really is over—for now.
Denis Makarenko/ShutterstockNeither Affleck nor de Armas have made any public statements about going their separate ways, but Ben's brother Casey Affleck touched on the split while promoting his film Our Friend.
"The reality is, I think that this year has been really hard on people in relationships," he told Entertainment Tonight. But he had nothing but nice things to say about his brother's ex. "I think that Ana is just the sweetest, funniest, smartest, most charming person. I think she won't have any problems meeting somebody else," he said.
Casey did, however, stop short of stating that the relationship is done forever. "I can't even really say if they have totally broken up for good or whatever," he told the outlet. "I would leave that to them to speak to." For what it's worth, he also debunked the rumor that it was him trashing that cardboard cutout of de Armas outside of Ben's house in paparazzi photos that surfaced after the breakup. Affleck and de Armas will likely have to reunite for work reasons.
MEGA / GC Images / GettyLet's not forget that it was a movie that got these two together in the first place. Affleck and de Armas met on the set of the thriller Deep Water, which hasn't been released yet. Though the pandemic means that release dates are always in flux, it's currently set to come out in August of this year. And depending on the state of the coronavirus in a few months, the two actors may find themselves either virtually or physically together again to promote the film, in which they play a married couple. So who knows? This love story might not be finished just yet. Either that, or these two professionals will have to forge ahead and ignore any lingering awkwardness.
