100 Celebrities You Won't Believe Are The Same Age
They can't all look like Paul Rudd.
In Hollywood, age is everything. Well, to be precise, youth is everything. Many stars put themselves through the wringer to appear as young as possible. And looking at photos from any red carpet premiere, you'll find A-listers who look decades younger than they actually are. But a choice few have embraced their bald spots and wrinkles, choosing to age gracefully instead of in reverse. Herein, we've rounded up pairs of celebrities who are the same age (i.e. they were born in the same year and are turning the same age in 2019). These side-by-side photos are bound to shock you!
Paul Giamatti and Vin Diesel: 52
Though Paul Giamatti and Vin Diesel were both born in 1967, the former has been playing middle-aged men for decades while Diesel has been racing cars and fighting bad guys in action movie after action movie. It's no wonder we struggle to believe these two celebrities are the same age!
Gwen Stefani and Cate Blanchett: 50
It seems like just yesterday that No Doubt frontwoman Gwen Stefani was sporting crop tops and selling out arenas. And that's probably why it seems so strange that Stefani was born in the same year (1969) as Cate Blanchett, who's taken on many a motherly role, including the queen mum herself, Elizabeth I.
Jay-Z and Matthew Perry: 50
As the patriarch of the most iconic 21st century family and a king in the rap game, we still think of Jay-Z as being relatively young. Though he was born in 1969 along with Friends star Matthew Perry, the latter reached his peak 20 years ago, which is why we think of him as older.
Kim Kardashian and Christina Ricci: 39
It's hard to imagine now, but about 15 years ago, Kim Kardashian wasn't a household name. By the time Kardashian rose to fame in 2003, Christina Ricci had already been acting for a decade, with roles in Mermaids, The Addams Family and its sequel, Now and Then, The Opposite of Sex, and Sleepy Hollow (to name a few).
So, if you feel like Ricci has been around forever, you're probably surprised to learn that both of these famous women were born in 1980.
Ryan Gosling and Macaulay Culkin: 39
It's been 29 years since the release of Home Alone—meaning that Macaulay Culkin's age (39) shouldn't come as a total surprise. However, when compared to another famous man who also entered this world in 1980, Ryan Gosling, we understand why it's hard to grasp.
John Oliver and Chadwick Boseman: 42
The world has only known late night host John Oliver since he started serving as a Daily Show correspondent a decade ago. His salt-and-pepper hair and biting commentary probably make it hard to believe that he was born in 1977, the same year that Black Panther superhero Chadwick Boseman also graced the planet with his presence.
Serena Williams and Paris Hilton: 38
While tennis star Serena Williams was earning her first career Grand Slam in 2003, celebutante Paris Hilton was exploring America naively on her reality show, The Simple Life. So we don't blame you if you're having a hard time wrapping your head around the fact that both women were born in 1981.
Matt Damon and Nick Offerman: 49
Since Nick Offerman appeared as the quintessential middle-aged man on Parks and Recreation, it's hard to imagine that he ever truly had a childhood. On the other hand, Matt Damon has spent two decades as a Hollywood heartthrob, which makes the fact that they were both born in 1970 truly shocking.
Michelle Pfeiffer and Whoopi Goldberg: 64
Gaining early fame for her heartbreaking performance in The Color Purple and her comedic, but still wise role as Oda Mae Brown in Ghost, Whoopi Goldberg has always seemed motherly and mature. On top of that, she's one of Hollywood's youngest grandmothers!
So it's hard to grasp that she was born in 1958, the same year as Michelle Pfeiffer. While Goldberg was relegated to non-romantic roles in the 1980s and 1990s, Pfeiffer was fast becoming a sex symbol, starring in films like Scarface and Dangerous Liaisons. And who could forget Catwoman in Batman Returns?
Shaquille O'Neal and Eminem: 47
With 8 Mile barely in his rearview mirror, it's hard to believe that rapper Eminem is the same age as retired basketball player and businessman Shaquille O'Neal, who was also born in 1972.
Brad Pitt and Dean Norris: 56
Similar to his character in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, actor Brad Pitt seems to age backwards. It's hard to imagine a day will come when he won't be considered a sex symbol.
Pitt was born nearly six decades ago, in 1963. That's the same year Breaking Bad star Dean Norris was born, which is wild since he was already 45 when we were introduced to him as DEA Agent Hank Shrader on the AMC series.
Adele and Vanessa Hudgens: 31
Though Adele doesn't look any older than she is, her songwriting prowess seems to echo that of an artist well beyond her years. It's hard to believe she was only born in 1988, the same year as Vanessa Hudgens, who found fame from the Disney Channel franchise High School Musical nearly 15 years ago.
Keith Urban and Will Ferrell: 52
Despite the fact that Will Ferrell often plays hilariously juvenile characters in movies like Elf and Stepbrothers, he seems like he's been around for longer than country singer Keith Urban, who was born in 1967. And those highlights certainly help Urban maintain a younger facade.
Halle Berry and Robin Wright: 53
Can you believe that Pfeiffer's fellow Catwoman, Halle Berry, and Netflix's first lady of the United States, Robin Wright, were both born in 1966? Mind. Blown.
Jim Parsons and Andrew Lincoln: 46
Jim Parsons has been playing the youthful Sheldon Cooper on Big Bang Theory for more than a decade. Meanwhile, Andrew Lincoln was dodging zombies on The Walking Dead from 2000 to 2018. But despite the wildly different ages we associate their characters with, both actors were actually born in 1973.
Chris Rock and Piers Morgan: 54
Comedian Chris Rock and news anchor Piers Morgan were both born in 1965. However, we tend to associate Rock as a young man in his prime, while it's hard to imagine Morgan as being any younger than 40.
Kate Upton and Selena Gomez: 27
Model Kate Upton and pop star Selena Gomez were both born in 1992. But that's hard to wrap our heads around since we still envision Gomez as a Disney Channel star, while Upon gained her fame for posing for Sports Illustrated.
Thomas Brodie-Sangster and Liam Hemsworth: 29
Actor Thomas Brodie-Sangster, known for his early appearance in Love Actually and later for Game of Thrones, turns 29 this year. You know who else was born in 1990 and is celebrating his last year in his 20s? Hunger Games star Liam Hemsworth. Aging is crazy!
Jamie Lee Curtis and Ellen DeGeneres: 61
It's hard to believe that Ellen DeGeneres, who dances her way into America's hearts on her talk show everyday, is the same age as the original scream queen, Jamie Lee Curtis. Both were born in 1958, but the former is a spokesperson for Activia while the latter is a Cover Girl. Hollywood is a strange place.
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and John Cho: 46
The Rock has been portraying father figures on the big screen since he left his wrestling days behind in the early 2000s. By that time, John Cho's run as a stoner in the Harold and Kumar movies hadn't even begun. And yet, both actors were both born in 1972.
Sarah Hyland and Jennifer Lawrence: 29
Modern Family's Sarah Hyland and silver screen legend Jennifer Lawrence were both born in 1990. And yet, Hyland's performance as a frustrated teen and early twentysomething in Modern Family seems miles away from Lawrence's mature work in Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle.
Eddie Murphy and Forest Whitaker: 58
While actor Forest Whitaker has been playing dignified, mature characters in movies like The Last King of Scotland and The Forgiven, comedian Eddie Murphy has kept his roles and his sense of humor a bit lighter. (Shrek, anyone?) And that could explain why Murphy appears so much younger, despite the fact that both actors were born in 1961.
NeNe Leakes and Lisa Bonet: 52
It's probably hard to picture Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe Leakes as anything but a housewife, let alone as a child. So you'll be shocked to know that she was born in 1967, the same year as Lisa Bonet, who will always be Denise from The Cosby Show and A Different World to so many of us.
Michael J. Fox and George Clooney: 58
Though both actors were born in 1961, George Clooney seems to have always been a salt-and-pepper haired middle-aged man. It's a bit harder to believe that Michael J. Fox has come so far from the iconic teens he played in the 1980s with the Back to the Future franchise and Family Ties.
Keira Knightley and Carly Rae Jepsen: 34
It seems fitting that Keira Knightley, who regularly stars in period pieces like Pride and Prejudice, is nearly halfway through her third decade of life. But it may strike you as odd that youthful pop star Carly Rae Jepsen was also born in 1985, which means she's not only past her teens, but well into her 30s.
Michael Gambon and Chuck Norris: 79
With memes constantly circulating about Chuck Norris' legendary physical abilities, the fact that he's turning 79 is likely shocking to everyone. After all, that's the same age as Michael Gambon, the actor who played Dumbledore in the Harry Potter movies. Both were born in 1940.
Kylie Jenner and Maisie Williams: 22
Just recently, reality star and businesswoman Kylie Jenner was named the youngest billionaire of all time at 21 years old. And get this: The youngest member of the Jenner-Kardashian clan was born in 1997, the same year as actress Maisie Williams, who's basically been on Game of Thrones her whole life.
Ed Helms and Seth Green: 45
These talented comedic actors were both born in 1974. Looking at them, it's not hard to believe Ed Helms and Seth Green are in their mid-40s. But considering Helms is someone we think of as a professional thanks to The Office, and Green is still stuck in his teens due to his performances in Can't Hardly Wait and on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, it's still a tough pill to swallow.
Heather Graham and Julie Bowen: 49
Ever since Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, Heather Graham has been a Hollywood sex symbol, so it's probably hard to believe she's pushing 50. But think about the fact that she was born in 1970, the same year as one of America's favorite moms, Modern Family's Julie Bowen.
Paul Rudd and Rory McCann: 50
Paul Rudd's ageless appearance has long been a joke in Hollywood. His boyish charm makes it hard to believe he's turning 50, the same age as Game of Thrones actor Rory McCann.
Holly Hunter and Joan Jett: 61
Probably because actress Holly Hunter found fame later in life, it seems like an impossibility that she was born in the same year (1958) as '80s rocker Joan Jett. Either way, can you believe these beautiful women are in their 60s?
Nicolas Cage and Keanu Reeves: 55
Nicolas Cage reached peak Hollywood fame in the 1980s with Peggy Sue Got Married and Raising Arizona, but it wasn't until a decade later that Keanu Reeves hit his stride with Point Break and Speed. That's probably why it's hard to believe that both actors were born in 1964.
Cher and Sally Field: 73
Though Cher and Sally Field, both born in 1946, have both been around for decades, Cher is still rocking skimpy concert costumes, while Field is taking on grandmotherly roles on screen.
Martin Freeman and Jared Leto: 48
Perhaps it's because Jared Leto was once a rockstar and the object of teenage adoration, but it seems strange he and Martin Freeman, who portrayed Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit trilogy, were both born in 1971.
Sandra Bullock and Courtney Love: 55
As one of the pioneers of the grunge rock scene, it feels like Courtney Love has been around for decades. But she was born in 1964, the same year as Sandra Bullock, who's still one of Hollywood's most beloved leading ladies.
Orlando Bloom and Michael Fassbender: 42
It seems like just yesterday that heartthrob Orlando Bloom was fending off enemies in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. It was actually 2017, which might explain why it's so hard to believe that he is the same age as actor Michael Fassbender. Both were born in 1977, but Fassbender has taken on very adult film fare, like Steve Jobs and 12 Years a Slave.
Halsey and Dakota Fanning: 25
Dakota Fanning has been a Hollywood mainstay since she was only 7, thanks to her performance in I Am Sam, which made her the youngest person ever to be nominated for a Screen Actors Guild award. Her success at such an early age might explain why it's hard to believe that the actress is the same age as pop star Halsey, whose songs cover subject matter for mature audiences only. Both were born in 1994.
Russell Crowe and Rob Lowe: 55
Rob Lowe was the object of teen affection in the 1980s, and he's maintained his youthful, clean-shaven appearance well into the 21st century. So it's probably hard to believe that rugged actor Russell Crowe, who repeatedly stars as rough-around-the-edges characters in films like Cinderella Man and Robin Hood, was born the same year as Lowe (1964).
Julia Roberts and Pamela Anderson: 52
Despite rising to fame in the 1990s, Julia Roberts has managed to remain a compelling force and a style icon for decades. But sex symbol Pamela Anderson, who was born in 1967 along with Roberts, has faded away from the spotlight a bit. So we've frozen her as a twentysomething-year-old Playboy model.
Adrien Brody and Mario Lopez: 46
No matter how quickly the years may pass, many will always see Mario Lopez, born in 1973, as A.C. Slater on Saved by the Bell. Actor Adrien Brody may have been born in the same year, but his adult roles in The Pianist and a ton of Wes Anderson movies make him seem much older.
Elisabeth Moss and Kelly Clarkson: 37
You probably still envision pop star Kelly Clarkson as she was during her time on American Idol, when she was only 20. That might explain why she seems so much younger than Mad Men and The Handmaid's Tale actress Elisabeth Moss, even though both were born in 1982.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Tom Hiddleston: 38
No matter how old he gets, it's safe to say that many fans of Joseph Gordon-Levitt will always see him as the teen he was in the 1990s as Tommy on 3rd Rock From the Sun or as Cameron in 10 Things I Hate About You. But in reality, the actor is pushing 40. In fact, he was born in 1981, the same year as beloved British actor Tom Hiddleston. It's hard to see Gordon-Levitt as the same age as Marvel's best villain.
Emilia Clarke and Lady GaGa: 33
Tom Cruise and Craig Ferguson: 57
With nearly six decades under his belt, Tom Cruise is still daringly leaping from building to building in Mission Impossible movies. So, when compared to comedian Craig Ferguson, who was also born in 1962, Cruise seems to be defying the aging process all together.
Zendaya and Lorde: 23
While it's hard to imagine Zendaya as an adult actress, it's even harder to conjure up an image of Lorde as anything but supremely wise beyond her 23 years. The fact that these two stars were both born in 1996 is sure to raise a few eyebrows.
Kristian Nairn and Tobey Maguire: 44
Game of Thrones actor Kristian Nairn looks like he has a few years on baby-faced former Spiderman Tobey Maguire, even though both were born in 1975.
Catherine Zeta-Jones and Jennifer Lopez: 50
Jennifer Lopez has somehow tricked the hands of time. This triple threat is still touring stadiums, raising young kids, and acting in films and on television. Meanwhile, Catherine Zeta-Jones, who was also born in 1969, has always taken on very adult roles. And considering she's married to Michael Douglas, a man 25 years her senior, she seems particularly older than Lopez to us.
Jack McBrayer and Patrick Wilson: 46
Since you're likely envisioning actor Jack McBrayer as his young and hilariously naive character on 30 Rock, it seems strange that he is the same age as fellow actor Patrick Wilson. Both were born in 1973, but the seriousness of Wilson's roles make him seem much older.
Helena Bonham Carter and Salma Hayek: 53
At 53 years old, Salma Hayek is still hailed as a sex symbol, while actress Helena Bonham Carter, who was also born in 1966, has opted for darker and less seductive roles.
Mel Brooks and James Lipton: 93
First things first: It's hard to believe that both of these men are in their 90s. While filmmaker and actor Mel Brooks has been making audiences laugh since the 1960s, Inside the Actors Studio host, James Lipton, has been interviewing Hollywood's greatest since the 1990s. Plus, considering Lipton's brown hair and beard, it's hard to believe he's lived for more than nine decades.
