Here's When Black Friday Sales Actually Start at Major Retailers in 2019

Our guide to gearing up for Black Friday sales both in stores and online.

Shopping for holiday gifts can cost a pretty penny. Thankfully, retail holidays like Black Friday make it possible to score great gifts for everyone on your list at a fraction of the cost. However, shopping during the retail holiday is an art—and if you don't do your research, you might just miss out on the deals of the season. To help you prepare for the chaos, we've compiled a list of when Black Friday sales start at all your favorite big-box stores in 2019. Happy shopping!


Amazon

Just because Amazon has its own Prime Day doesn't mean it opts out of Black Friday sales. This year, the online giant’s Black Friday deals kick off nearly a week before Thanksgiving, beginning on November 22 and running through November 29. Forbes notes that among the retailer's top deals is the Ring Video Doorbell pro and Echo Show 5 bundle, priced at just $189. (That's a $150 discount!)

Best Buy

At Best Buy, Black Friday begins in store at 5 p.m. on November 28, but you can shop for deals online all day. The store promises to reveal new doorbusters the day of—but so far, advertised deals include a 75-inch Samsung LED TV for $750 and an Xbox One Star Wars bundle for $350.

Bloomingdale's

At Bloomingdale's, Black Friday sales start online on Thursday, November 28, and in stores on Black Friday. Though few specifics are available now, expect discounts to be available in the clothing, accessories, handbags, and fine jewelry categories. The sale runs through November 30.

Costco

Though Costco's online Black Friday sales technically began on November 7, the store is releasing its deals in waves. The rest of the deals will be made available the week of Thanksgiving as well as on Thanksgiving Day, on Black Friday, and on Cyber Monday.

Home Depot

Home Depot keeps its stores closed on Thanksgiving Day and then opens early for Black Friday. (Check the store's website for the opening hours of your local branch.) Black Friday sales begin online starting at 6 a.m. EST the day after Thanksgiving.

Kohl's

Kohl’s kicks off its Black Friday sales online on Monday, November 25 beginning at 12:01 am CT. In store, meanwhile, the deals begin at 5 p.m. on November 28. The retailer’s doorbusters are available on November 28 at 12:01 a.m. online and in stores starting at 5 p.m.

Lowe's

Home improvement retailer Lowe’s is opening its stores at 6 a.m. on November 29, but you can shop the deals online all day. As far as deals go, think big-ticket appliances like refrigerators, furniture, and smart home gadgets like Ring doorbells and Google Homes.

Macy's

Macy’s will kick off its Black Friday sales on Wednesday, November 27—the day before Thanksgiving—online, in stores, and on its app. The department store says that more updates will be made available soon on specific deals, but it promises deep discounts on items ranging from clothes and shoes to homewares and furniture.

Target

Target’s Black Friday sale kicks off on November 28 and runs through November 30. However, Red Card holders get early access all day online on November 27, and Target Circle Members get access that day beginning at 6 p.m.

Walmart

Walmart’s Black Friday sales are already well underway. Its online deals available right now include the best-selling 50-inch Vizio TV for $248, down from $428, and the series 3 Apple Watch for just $199.
