Actor Julianne Moore and director Bart Freundlichhave been together for over 25 years now and have two children together, both of whom are now adults. Their son Caleb Freundlich is 23, and their daughter Liv Freundlich just turned 19 this month. Liv is also the spitting image of her Oscar-nominated mom. Liv has been working with her parents since she was a little kid.

Liv had her first film role at the age of three, appearing in 2005's Trust the Man, directed by her dad and starring her mom. Four years later, she also played a role in another of Freundlich's rom-coms, The Rebound.

Moore is the author of the Freckleface Strawberry series of children's books, and in 2014, she launched a math-building skills app for kids featuring the character. Liv voices Freckleface Strawberry in the games.

"She did such a great job as the voice," Moore said in an interview with People. "She's so adorable, and real as the voice. That's what I love about it...[Other kids] will know they’re listening to a child rather than an adult doing a child’s voice."

However, Moore has also said that she doesn't believe her daughter will go into acting as a career. "I don't think she really knows what she wants to do yet," the Still Alice star explained to CBS This Morning in 2016. "When people ask her about acting, she's like, 'Not that.'"

She's also done some modeling work.

In February 2017, Liv booked her first gig as a model, sporting looks for J.Crew at the brand's New York Fashion Week show. And the fact that she was an amateur was a plus. As People points out, the J.Crew show did not feature experienced, professional models, but regular people.

"@Jcrew beauties @lisaeisnerjewelry and my very own @livfreundlich ❤#realpeople," Moore captioned an Instagram post of her daughter, also tagging Lisa Eisner, a jewelry designer working on the show.

After Liv's modeling debut, Moore spoke to People about trusting her daughter to navigate the pressures of the fashion world and the spotlight in general.

"She is a wonderful student and a really great girl and an interested person," the actor said of her teen daughter.

She also added that growing up with parents who work in the movies helped Liv to tell the difference between reality and fiction early on.

"When she was really little, she said, 'You know mommy, some people get really scared when they watch movies but I don’t because I know that they’ve made everything up,'" Moore recalled. "She always understood the concept of illusion and I think she understands that with fashion as well."

She's a student and an activist—who's influenced her mom to become one too.

Speaking to Departures in 2020,  Moore said that her daughter had encouraged her to become an activist. The star explained that since the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, she has been very vocal about the need for gun control laws, which wouldn't have happened without her daughter.

"My daughter was 10," Moore said. "We had spent the whole day trying to keep the news from her. She literally said, 'Mommy, did a bunch of little kids get shot today?' I was like, I’m not being a responsible parent or a responsible citizen if I don’t become involved in this movement." Moore then became involved in the organization Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense.

The actor also noted that she's continued to have open conversations about violence and racism with Liv, who's currently studying at Northwestern University. When she was still in high school, Liv started a chapter of Students Demand Action.

"She was the person who started my activism and became an activist along with me," Moore explained. "My son is very involved in the social justice movement. They’re both awake and aware."

Liv's older brother Caleb graduated from Davidson College, where he also played on the school's basketball team, last year. In a post in honor of his graduation, Moore congratulated Caleb for his many accomplishments, including getting into grad school. "We are heartbroken that we cannot celebrate him today in the way that he deserves," she shared on her Instagram."We love you so much Cal and we are SO PROUD."

In addition to studies and sports, Cal is also working on his music. He composed music for the documentary film A Valley Divided, which is part of the NYU News & Doc Film Festival. While the doc isn't screening until May, Cal announced on Instagram that the soundtrack is already available to stream.

Moore told Metro in 2017, per the Associated Press, that her family is "the most important thing" to her. She also said that she was specifically proud of her kids because they're "really nice" and "have a lot of interests."

She and her husband have kept the family close by making time for them all to hang out.

“The four of us spend a lot of time together," she said. "So I think, as a parent, that’s all you can do: make your family a priority and spend time with each other.”
