Married... with Children ended 25 years ago, but it looks like the show could be coming back in a very different way. In a new interview with Variety, Christina Applegate, who starred as Kelly Bundy on the sitcom, opened up about the final season of her Netflix show, Dead to Me, and her plans for what's next. She hopes that one of her next projects will be returning to play Kelly once again, but in a brand new format. Read on to see what the 50-year-old actor had to say about the potential revival.

The third and final season of Dead to Me premieres on Netflix on Nov. 17. The season had just begun filming in 2021 when Applegate was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

"I had to call everybody and be like, ‘I have multiple sclerosis guys. Like, what the [expletive]!’ And then it was about kind of learning—all of us learning—what I was going to be capable of doing," Applegate toldVariety.

She knew she wanted to continue with filming. "I was like, ‘No, no, no, no, no, no: We have to finish this story. It’s too important to our hearts; too important to our souls. And we have to give this gift, not only to ourselves—there are people that love these characters, and we’ve got to let them have their closure too.’ So, if that meant me having to take a break in the middle of the day so I could go sleep—or me just leaving because I couldn’t do anymore—then that’s what we had to do."

Dead to Me may be her last major live-action role.

Applegate said that she's unsure whether Dead to Me will be her last starring role. "I’m pretty convinced that this was it, you know?" she told Variety.

She explained of working with MS, "I’m just a newbie to all of this. I’m trying to figure it out—and I’m also in mourning for the person that I was. I have to find a place that’s as loving as my set was, where they won’t think I’m a diva by saying, ‘Hey, I can only work five hours.’”

In May, it was reported that an animated Married... with Children series was being pitched to networks and streaming services. According to the Deadline, the show would feature the original stars—Applegate, Katey Sagal, Ed O'Neill, and David Faustino—reprising their roles as voice actors.

In her Variety interview, Applegate said of the revival plan, "We’re hoping that that works!”

She also wants to continue working in another aspect of the business.

Applegate told Variety that she'd like to keep producing post-Dead to Me. She was an executive producer for the Netflix series and also served as a producer on previous shows on which she starred, including Samantha Who? and Up All Night.

She explained, "I’ve got a lot of ideas in my mind, and I just need to get them executed."
