As a frequent T.J. Maxx shopper, I can say that one of the best things about the store is that its inventory is constantly changing. One week, you may find a great deal on luxury perfumes; the next, you could find never-before-seen designer clothing; and the following, the store may have put out its new seasonal home decor. But if there's one week you'll want to visit your local T.J. Maxx—as well as your local Marshalls and HomeGoods—it's this week, as the retailers have started their "yellow tag" sale today.

You can now get the lowest prices of the year at T.J. Maxx.

Savvy shoppers know the secret to the colored sticker system at stores under the T.J. Maxx umbrella, which includes Marshalls and HomeGoods.

As Best Lifepreviously explained, when an item goes on sale, it receives either a red or yellow price tag sticker. A red tag indicates a markdown, and an item can be marked down several times (so you may find a price tag with more than one red sticker). Yellow, however, means the item is marked down for the last time and at its lowest price.

Now, in an Instagram post, shopping influencer Kristen Mac (@thatprettyfind) confirms that T.J. Maxx's yellow-tag clearance sale begins today, Jan. 8.

"This sale only happens twice a year, and it’s when you can score the lowest prices on items at T.J.Maxx (also Marshalls and HomeGoods)!" she shares, noting that some locations may begin the sale a few days later.

The sales are likely to continue throughout January.

However, as Best Lifepreviously shared, some insiders say that during this clearance event, which happens again in July, yellow stickers aren't always the lowest price.

In a YouTube video, a former T.J. Maxx employee named Taylor (@simplytaylorb) said, "The best time to shop at T.J. Maxx is January. There's markdowns in January every single day."

"This is a strategic move by the company because they know that not as many people want to shop after Christmas because they just spent loads of money for the past month on presents," she explained.

Taylor also noted that she saw multiple yellow stickers on items during the month.

"I vividly remember going into my store, and products were just getting wiped out because as I was scanning them down, down, down, things just kept going. There was a $700 dress that I bought for $7. I've seen people walk out with 50+ items and they maybe spent $17. Watch the yellow ticket and definitely go shopping in January," she added.

It's a good time to shop "The Runway."

If you're into high-end finds, the January sales event is a great time to shop T.J. Maxx stores with "The Runway."

As Best Lifeexplained, "These store-within-a-store locations have designer apparel, accessories, and beauty products at seriously discounted prices—up to 60 percent off." These items will feature a purple tag.

Only certain T.J. Maxx locations have The Runway, but you can also shop it online.

In her video, Mac showed a Saint Laurent purse, Dolce&Gabbana shoes, and more, all with both purple and yellow stickers.
