The last few years have been particularly hard on the retail industry, as even some of the biggest players in the market have shuttered locations across the U.S. However, it’s not all bad news: Some companies are actually planning to increase their brick-and-mortar footprint in the coming months. From grocery stores to fashion retailers, here are all the stores opening tons of new locations in 2025. There’s a decent chance there will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony or two near you.

Good news for anyone looking to expand their wardrobes: Last month, Spanish fashion brand Mango announced it will open more than 60 stores in the U.S. in the coming months, CNBC reports. Specifically, the company said it would add 42stores by the end of 2024 and follow through with 20 more through next year.

So far, the Barcelona-based retailer has already opened locations in Washington, D.C., Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania. According to Mango CEO Toni Ruiz, the next wave of openings will be primarily concentrated across the Sun Belt and Northeast.

“This is a long-term commitment,” Ruiz told CNBC in a recent interview. “We also have the opportunity to have bigger stores in the U.S.” He added that some of the new locations will also carry children’s and men’s items.

Big things are in the works for the iconic convenience store 7-Eleven. The company recently announced it would add to its store count and enhance its offerings by expanding its new “Evolution” concept stores, Nation’s Restaurant News reported.

The higher-end locations focus more on food and premium products, incorporating restaurants and items like craft beer, wine, and cigars.

“We plan to open 125 of these new stores in 2025, and we are ramping up and growing our pipeline with plans to open over 500 of these new stores by 2027,” 7-Eleven CEO Joe DePinto said on a call with investors in October.

The hefty increase will add to the roughly 13,229 locations it already operates across the U.S. and Canada, per Nation’s Restaurant News.

3 | Costco

Perhaps not surprisingly, everyone’s favorite warehouse retailer is adding locations. During a September earnings call, Costco confirmed it would add 29 new stores throughout the 2025 fiscal year running from September through August, which includes three relocations of existing warehouses.

According to Costco CFO Gary Millerchip, all but 12 openings will be in the U.S. New warehouses have already opened in Bend, Oregon; Napa, California; Madison, Alabama; and Pleasanton, California, since the announcement, per Eat This Not That.

The retailer’s website says six more will open in 2025 in Brentwood, California; Genesee County, Michigan; Highland, California; Prosper, Texas; Sharon, Massachusetts; and Weatherford, Texas. And there are even more notable openings to look forward to.

"Highlights included our first-ever building in Maine, bringing us to 47 states, and our 600th U.S. building in Eau Claire, Wisconsin," Millerchip said during the earnings call.

Beloved regional grocery chain Wegmans is continuing its expansion with three new stores set to open before the end of 2025, according to the company’s website. The latest locations will be in Lake Grove, New York (opening Feb. 26); Norwalk, Connecticut (summer 2025); and Rockville, Maryland.

The new storefronts will bring the retailer’s beloved prepared foods and affordable house-branded products to an even wider audience. Each will also offer curbside pickup options for online grocery and meals-to-go orders.

Game on! While reporting strong earnings earlier this month, Academy Sports announced it would open as many as 25 stores next year, Chain Store Age reports.

The move comes after the company opened 16 new stores in 2024, bringing its total to 298 locations across 19 states. Earlier this year, the company suggested it could foresee reaching a point where it operated more than 800 stores across the U.S., per Chain Store Age.

Sometimes, one store's loss can be another’s gain. Earlier this year, Ollie’s Bargain Outlet began acquiring leases from fellow discount retailer Big Lots after the struggling store filed for bankruptcy last September, Chain Store Age reports.

The move ushered in an unprecedented period of growth for Ollie’s, which opened up 24 new stores in the last quarter alone. The company also acquired 17 Big Lots locations in the third and fourth quarters and even picked up seven more in a bankruptcy sale earlier this month, per Chain Store Age.

"We had another great quarter and are pleased with our results," outgoing Ollie’s Bargain Outlet CEO John Swygert said in a statement. "We delivered strong earnings on higher sales, gross margin, and disciplined expense control. We also took advantage of a number of real estate opportunities that strengthened our new store pipeline and enhanced our competitive positioning for the future."

As of Dec. 10, Ollie’s Bargain Outlet had a total of 546 stores across 36 states, per Yahoo Finance.
