Year after year, beer remains the most popular alcoholic beverage in the U.S. According to a 2019 Gallup poll, 38 percent of adults in America say they reach for an ice cold beer before any other alcoholic drink—and they drink a lot of it. USA Today reports that Americans consume an estimated 6.3 billion gallons of beer per year, which comes out to about 26.2 gallons per adult in the U.S. over 21. Considering how many pints Americans are throwing back, everyone has a strong opinion on which one is best. But across the nation, there is some consensus on which ale reigns supreme.
YouGov conducted a poll ranking the top 75 beers in the U.S., calculating a popularity rating for each based on the number of people who have a positive opinion of that beer brand. To focus on the creme de la creme—or the foam de la foam, in this case—we pared the list down to the top 25, counting down to the most popular beer in America.
