It seems like the whole world has been obsessed with Jennifer Aniston's romantic life since she became a household name playing Rachel on Friends. And while it appears that The Morning Show star is currently single, she just dropped a little hint on Instagram about what she is (and isn't) looking for in a partner.

With one short, hilarious clip, Jennifer Aniston revealed the one thing she'd never do in a relationship, and it's impossible to argue with her logic here. Jennifer Aniston posted a hilarious and telling clip to her Instagram Story.

On Feb. 2, Aniston shared a vintage interview clip of the late Eartha Kitt to her Instagram Story. It comes from a 1982 documentary about the singer, actor, and activist, titled All by Myself: The Eartha Kitt Story. This snippet of the film has made the rounds online a few times, but it's taking on new meaning, thanks to the Friends star. It's all about what Kitt isn't willing to do for a man.

At the beginning of the clip, the (male) interviewer asks Kitt, "If a man came into your life, wouldn't you want to compromise?"

Kitt explodes into laughter, then says, "Stupid. A man comes into my life and I have to compromise? You must think about that one again." She laughs some more, and then turns to address someone else offscreen. "A man comes into my life and you have to compromise?" Kitt continues. "For what? For what?"

Aniston's only addition to the video was to hashtag Kitt's name and add laughing and red-faced emojis (along with crediting the account @thiswashollywood for sharing it first). You can watch an extended version of the clip here:

Kitt lived a full and independent life.

Kitt, who died in 2008 at the age of 81, was only married once, for five years in the '60s. Her husband was businessman John William McDonald, and they had one daughter, Kitt McDonald. A New York Times report from 1964 notes that Kitt was granted a divorce from McDonald on the "grounds of mental cruelty." She remained single thereafter, dedicating her life not only to her creative work but also to various activist efforts, from supporting low-income children to opposing the Vietnam War to being an early champion of legalizing same-sex marriage. The video tells us a little bit about Aniston's relationship outlook.

At age 51, Aniston has been married twice to fellow actors: first, to Brad Pitt from 2000 to 2005 and then to Justin Theroux from 2015 to 2017. Despite the controversy of Pitt moving on to a now-defunct relationship with his Mr. and Mrs. Smith co-star Angelina Jolie, he and Aniston seem to be on good terms these days, and she and Theroux have always maintained that their breakup was amicable. At the moment, she's not publicly linked to anyone.

Speaking to InStyle in 2018, Aniston addressed the sexist tabloid narrative that constantly follows her around. "It’s pretty crazy. The misconceptions are 'Jen can’t keep a man,' and 'Jen refuses to have a baby because she’s selfish and committed to her career,'" she said. "Or that I’m sad and heartbroken. First, with all due respect, I’m not heartbroken. And second, those are reckless assumptions. No one knows what’s going on behind closed doors."

So while Aniston could have shared that infamous Kitt interview clip for any number of reasons, it's difficult not to read into it as speaking to her own dating philosophy. The actor just returned to filming the second season of The Morning Show, for which she won a Screen Actors Guild Award; adopted a new puppy; and is gearing up for that Friends reunion HBO Max promised us. She has a lot going on and seems to endorse Kitt's position that compromising your own goals and priorities for a relationship just isn't worth it.
