Untamed (July 17)

Earlier this year, fans lavished praise on Netflix’s American Primeval, a dark and gritty western drama set in 1857 and co-created by Mark L. Smith. Now, the streaming service is once again reviving that intrigue in a modern-day setting with the miniseries Untamed, set amidst the stunning natural beauty of Yosemite.

The thriller follows special investigator Kyle Turner (played by Eric Bana), who is called to the iconic National Park to look into the murder of a young woman. He soon realizes that the brutal crime brushes up against some of the more sinister elements of Yosemite’s past.

“Everyone thinks of Yosemite as this beautiful place with all the vistas and all the scenery, but we were trying to touch on the dangers that are just beyond that,” Smith (who also came on board as a co-showrunner for the miniseries) told Netflix blog Tudum. “I love stripping all the cheats away, stripping all the more modern tools that people can use. It really gets down to the character and what they can find within themselves.”

Too Much (July 10)

Anyone who’s ever pictured themselves living abroad has likely dreamt of what it would be like to settle down in the U.K. But what if the reality of living in the British capital is a lot different than pubs and posh accents?

This hotly anticipated comedy from Girls‘ creator Lena Dunham stars recently dumped Jessica (Hacks’ Megan Stalter), who leaves her high-paced job in New York for London. But just as she’s coming to grips with a new life in a new country, she finds herself in a budding opposites-attract romance with Felix (The White Lotus’ Will Sharpe), who has a more laidback approach to life. According to Dunham, Too Much’s format is one that she’s long wanted to dive into.

“[Rom-com] was probably the genre that made me want to make movies,” she told Tudum. “The movies [by] Nora Ephron, Mike Nichols, Nancy Meyers, Elaine May, Penny Marshall … They were aspirational, but there was also just a grain of honesty about what it is to be a woman and to navigate the world. I thought, ‘Is there a way for us to really layer in the baggage that people experience as they try to fall in love in their 30s?’ Because, unlike in your 20s, you have this trail of complexity behind you. When you react to the person that you’re falling in love with, you’re not just reacting to them; you’re reacting to everybody and everything that’s come before them.”

As with much of Dunham’s past work, you can also count on plenty of star-studded cameos across the pond, including Jessica Alba, Kit Harrington, Rhea Perlman, Rita Wilson, Emily Ratajkowski, Rita Ora, Stephen Fry, and Andrew Rannells.

The Sandman (July 3)

Fans who have been left waiting for the follow-up to this hit fantasy series received some bittersweet news recently: While they’d finally get more episodes, the second season would also be its last. However, showrunners say the remaining 11 episodes (which will be split into two volumes over the month) had just enough of a storyline left from the original Neil Gaiman comic to really send the show off in the best way.

The Sandman follows Lord Morpheus (Tom Sturridge) as a walking embodiment of dreams and nightmares who has managed to set foot in the conscious world. The second season picks up just days after the end of the first, as he continues his quest to rebuild his world, known as “the Dreaming.”

“Knowing this was our final season—knowing where we were going, story-wise—allowed us to prep and plan to use our time and budget to the fullest,” Allan Heinberg, the show’s executive producer, writer, and showrunner, told Tudum in an interview. “And to enjoy the process, and each other, as much as possible since we knew this was going to be the last time we’d all be working together to tell this extraordinary and mad and moving story.”

With stunning visuals and a constantly evolving storyline, there are plenty of reasons to tune in for this show’s curtain call. The first six episodes will drop on July 3 before the final five premiere in just a few weeks on July 24.

The Hunting Wives (July 21)

Sometimes, the best shows take a little longer to make their way into the world than others. That’s the case with The Hunting Wives, which is finally ready to make its splashy debut on Netflix (despite the fact that it finished filming in 2024) this summer after the streaming service picked it up from post-production limbo at Starz, Deadline reports.

Based on the bestselling novel of the same name by May Cobb, the series follows the story of Sophie (Brittany Snow), a career-driven woman who flees a high-powered job in Chicago with her husband and son for a quieter life in rural Texas. But it’s not too long before she crosses paths with Margot Banks (Malin Åkerman), a local socialite who draws her into a new social circle—and an even darker mystery.

If you’re ready to get sucked into the intrigue, you can start streaming when the show goes live on July 21.

5
Hitmakers (July 24)

If you’ve found yourself singing along to a new hit song from your favorite band, you may not have realized that there were more people involved than just the artists themselves. This new reality show shines a light on the architects of these songs, following some of the industry’s top songwriters as they try to pump out the next chart topper.

Equal parts documentary and reality show, Hitmakers showcases the same creative minds that penned smash hits for the likes of Ariana Grande, John Legend, Justin Bieber, and Beyoncé as they come together to try to repeat their success, Deadline reports. You can tune in when the episodes hit Netflix on July 24.
