Why the Dark But Funny "Me on Ellen" Meme Is Going Viral on Twitter

"Oh my god, Ellen, you didn't!"

If you regularly watch The Ellen DeGeneres Show, you know one of the best parts of the daytime talk show is Ellen's tendency to find out what her guests love most and then use that knowledge to give them the gift of a lifetime.

Case in point: when she surprised 11-year-old Idina Menzel superfan Luke Chacko by introducing him to his idol.

Or when she moved Jimmy Kimmel to tears when she revealed she had one of the rooms in a children's hospital named after his son, Billy, who was born with a genetic heart disease.

Or when she surprised a hardworking single mom and her best friend by flying them out and featuring them on her show.

Sometimes, these super-sweet gestures are so over the top that people recently began wondering what Ellen wouldn't do just to put a smile on their face.

And pretty soon, it became a meme.

And things got kind of dark really fast.

But it's all in tribute to this wonderful woman and the lengths she will go to make people happy.

Ellen hasn't yet responded to the "Me on Ellen" meme, but one can only imagine that she will. According to the hashtag tracking tool Tweetbinder.com, more than 500 people have posted a "Me on Ellen" tweet today alone. The most popular one (below) has more than 30,000 retweets.

Who knows? At this rate "Me on Ellen" may even pass muster as "Ellen's Meme of the Week!" Oh, and speaking of Ellen's TV show—if you're a fan, don't miss the adorable viral video of the time she quizzed a genius 6-year-old geography expert.
