A federal judge may have blocked the $25 billion Kroger-Albertsons merger after the F.T.C. filed an antitrust lawsuit, but Kroger is still opening new stores across the country. “After reviewing options, the company determined it is no longer in its best interests to pursue the merger,” Kroger said in a release. Kroger’s chief executive Rodney McMullen previously said if the merger were to be blocked, “We’ll continue to go on… I don’t know that we would be out there trying to find what’s the next Albertsons. We’ve always made sure that we don’t need to do mergers to make our business successful.” Here’s where the new Krogers will be opening across the country.

A new Kroger opened on December 11 in Lawrenceville, Gwinnett County. “We recognize Kroger’s unique role in the communities we serve. A new Kroger opened its doors on December 12 at 148 East Towne Center Blvd., Maineville, Ohio. “The Hamilton Township Kroger Marketplace will offer customers a Full, Fresh and Friendly experience from the moment they walk in our doors,” Ann Reed, Cincinnati/Dayton division president, tells The Warren County Post. “Customers will enjoy the new look and design of the store with an expanded selection of products and services for a true one-stop shopping experience. We are grateful to the local leaders in Hamilton Township and Warren County for their collaboration to bring this new investment to the area.”

The Krogers in Alexandra, Louisiana reopened on December 11. “We’ve reinvested into the store,” John Votara, Kroger’s Director of Corporate Affairs, tells KALB. “We want to make sure everything looks as fresh as the products we sell. We’ve improved some areas of the store. We want to ensure that our customers enjoy shopping at our stores.”

Kroger is opening a new store at 7450 Fishers Station Drive, Fishers, Indiana, in early 2025. “We’re looking at opening in January, but you know there’s a lot of variables and factors and construction that goes into it,” Kroger Central Division HR Leader Sheila Fair tells the Hamilton County Reporter. “Hopefully after the holidays we’ll have a – no pun intended – more concrete date once we know more from the facility side of things.”
