Costco gas stations have always been cheap, but now it's getting even better.

The perks of a Costco membership are many—big savings on bulk buys, access to exclusive travel deals, and extended appliance warranties, to name a few. Then there are the Costco gas stations, which, more often than not, have lower prices than nearby competitors. In fact, members say they routinely save 60 to 70 cents per gallon. And with anxieties high about how the newly imposed tariffs could cause gas prices to surge, this is more important than ever. However, it seems like Costco has been one step ahead, as they've just announced two big gas station changes that can save you time and money at the pump.

Costco gas stations just extended their hours.

According to NBC News (based on a now-unavailable Facebook post), Costco confirmed that it was extending the hours of its gas stations to open earlier and close later. This is applicable at most gas stations throughout the country, though locations in California and Hawaii may have modified hours.

The new hours are as follows:

  • Monday-Friday: 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Saturday: 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
  • Sunday: 6 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
However, if you plan on doing some shopping after filling up your tank, be aware that Costco stores have very different hours. Most stores are open during the following times:
  • Monday-Friday: 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
  • Saturday: 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • Sunday: 10 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The Costco Visa Card is now offering bigger gas rewards.

Those who have the Costco Anywhere Visa Card by Citi will now enjoy increased rewards on gas purchases.
As reported by Motley Fool Money: "The Costco Anywhere Visa Card by Citi used to pay 4% back on all eligible gas and EV charging purchases. Now, cardholders will earn 5% cash back on gas at Costco and 4% cash back on other eligible gas and electric vehicle (EV) charging purchases for the first $7,000 combined spend per year, and then 1% thereafter."
Shoppers also favor this card because it doubles as a Costco membership card and has no annual fee. Plus, it provides 3% cash back on restaurants and travel, 2% cash back on Costco purchases, and 1% cash back on other purchases.

Costco members say you're getting premium gas, too.

Just because Costco gas stations are cheaper doesn't mean you're getting a subpar product.
As Best Liferecently shared, Costco members took to Reddit to share just how much they love the chain's gas stations, one reason being that the fuel is high quality.
"Top Tier Additives (not octane) are the best at keeping deposits off of valves and pistons," read one comment. "Costco adds the additives at the pump and buys base gas typically from BP, but that depends on the region."
And the retailer confirms this on their website: "The additional fuel detergent additives we've included in our Kirkland Signature licensed formulas, help clean your engine and keep your vehicle running its best. Kirkland Signature Fuel has been certified to meet the Top Tier performance standards and is available in each product we sell."
