Hollywood adores GLP-1 weight-loss drugs. Celebrities like Oprah Winfrey have candidly opened up about their positive experiences on Ozempic and Wegovy (semaglutide injections approved for treating type 2 diabetes but used off-label for weight loss). However, some stars are hesitant to hop on the waist-slimming bandwagon. "This is yo-yo dieting but on steroids," fitness guru Jillian Michaels told The Messenger. She called those who do use the weight-loss injections "a prisoner for life." Read on to see which other celebrities are anti-Ozempic.

Prior to an interview with The New York Times in March 2024, Kate Winslet thought Ozempic was "some pill that people are taking or something."
When the journalist interviewing Winslet filled her in on the "miracle" weight-loss drug, this is what she had to say: "Oh, my God…This sounds terrible. Let’s eat some more things!" (She was enjoying a pastry at the time.)
2. Nigella Lawson

Nigella Lawson "can’t imagine anything worse" than quieting her food cravings. She told The Timesthat she takes "great pleasure in thinking about food all of the time," so using a medication that would strip that away from her is "not for me."
"It doesn’t do to be too judgemental about other people’s medical decisions. I imagine if they are prescribed [weight-loss injections] by doctors because they are pre-diabetic or something, then that’s something [different], but they are not for me," she explained. "I have spent a lot of life trying to help people not feel that food is the enemy. And I am always someone who would prefer to think about what I add to my diet than what I remove."
3. Sophie Turner

Game of Thrones megastar Sophie Turner summed up her thoughts on Ozempic in one sentence: "WTF."
In April 2023, Turner shared a post from X (then Twitter) on her Instagram Story that read, "The Ozempic ads plastered across the Times Square subway station can [expletive] all the way off." The actress simply captioned it "WTF," as reported by E! News.

4. Jameela Jamil
ShutterstockWhen it comes to Ozempic and similar weight-loss drugs, Jameela Jamil is "sitting out this cycle."
In a candid Instagram post, the British actor and activist, who has opened up about her recovery from anorexia, slammed others in Hollywood for using Ozempic "to go from slim to super skinny."
"The amount of people in my industry just taking it [Ozempic] to go from slim to super skinny, to finally achieve the obedient waif physique to fit the obedient sample sizes.... has been hard to watch," she wrote. "Especially for those of us who have fought off eating disorders. Who are they really doing it for?"
Instead, Jamil is learning to embrace her curves. “I'm not playing with my brain, my heart, my bone density, or my metabolism for a trend,” she said.
5. Jelly Roll

Country singer-songwriter Jelly Roll revealed on his wife’s podcast, Dumb Blonde, that he’s "afraid" of Ozempic because of its lengthy list of potential side effects. His biggest fear was that he would develop bad acid reflux, which is known to "just rip the vocal cards," he explained.
"As a singer, few things scare me more than acid reflux," he admitted. That said, Jelly Roll doesn’t judge those who do use Ozempic: "We're not against Ozempic or any of that stuff. Every doctor I've talked to is for it."
As People reported in Nov. 2024, Jelly Roll ultimately lost over 100 pounds through diet and exercise.
"The battle was with the food addiction, changing the way I’ve looked at food for the last 39 years," he shared with the magazine. "I’ve never had a healthy relationship with food, so that was the hard part. But once you get into that discipline and commitment, it’s like an avalanche. Once that little snowball started rolling, it was on its way."
He also started training for a 5K, adding running to his daily routine.
6. Carnie Wilson

Like Jelly Roll, singer Carnie Wilson was also apprehensive to jump on the Ozempic bandwagon because of the side effects. "I know it works for some people. I was too afraid of the side effects. For me, I just — I didn’t want to take a chance,” she told Page Six.
She added, “Possibly back in the day, yeah. Not now though. It’s not for me, definitely not.”
Wilson said she was able to drop 40 pounds by omitting sugar and gluten from her diet, and incorporating more feta and parmesan cheese, brown rice, vegetables (specifically, beets), and salads.

Jessel Taank of The Real Housewives of New York City said she "would never put needles in myself" as a form of weight-loss treatment.
Speaking with US Weekly, the reality TV star opened up about the online hate she received after making a "positive change" that left many fans questioning whether she got cosmetic work done.
"I think that when you’re in reality TV, it’s so natural to be like, 'Oh, she got plastic surgery or she did this or she’s on Ozempic,'" Tank told the outlet. "I actually [expletive] hate Ozempic."
9. Jillian Michaels

Michaels isn’t a fan of Ozempic and doesn’t want her friends or family using it either.
In a People interview, Michaels revealed that she’s convinced "at least eight family friends’ parents" to quit semaglutide injections due to "awful" side effects.
She said the drug’s "rebound effect" should also make people pause: "So you're not gaining anything. You get off the drug in a year and go all the way back. You've not learned anything. You've not built any physical strength or endurance. You haven't learned how to eat healthy."
"The truth of the matter is, Ozempic has some pretty significant side effects. Do your homework on it. The results are not lasting, in very large part," she added.
