Bad haircuts happen to people all the time. But when awful grooming happens to dogs, it's a recipe for internet stardom. Exhibit A: Back in 2015, a dog named Stains went viral after his groomer took a request for a "lion cut" a little too seriously.
And now we have another victim—an adorable husky who got more of a trim than his owner (and likely he) ever bargained for. Over the weekend, Twitter user @hannahgomez44 took her husky to a new groomer. She told them, "He needs to be shaved just ENOUGH so he wouldn’t shed as much anymore." And this is what happened:
ok so my dog was way over due for a haircut so finally we took him to a new grooming place to get it done... we said “he’s needs to be shaved just ENOUGH so he wouldn’t shed as much anymore.” they took the shaving part literally YALL THE SECOND PICTURE I CANT pic.twitter.com/1OZh0SI16N

The tweet went viral, gaining more than 30,000 retweets in just two days. A lot of people thought the husky's awful haircut was absolutely hilarious.
However, others blamed the owner, claiming she was partially at fault. Many felt like shaving a double-coated dog like a husky could be a health risk.
Maybe if you had your husky groomed regularly and brushed him out the groomer wouldn’t of shaved him. And if you use the word “shave” at the groomers they’re obviously going to do what you asked?? But go off

In 2017, Teri DiMarino, president of the California Professional Pet Groomers Association, told Today that it's not a good idea to shave double-coated dogs because their two layers of fur serve to simultaneously regulate their temperature and protect them from the elements.
"You don't take the insulation out of your house in the summer," DiMarino said as a metaphor for what it's like for a husky to be shaved.
The owner understood people's concerns, but she also noted she didn't intend to do any damage.
After all, she didn't actually ask the groomer to fully shave her dog.
And judging by the comments, he's definitely not the only husky who's ever come home with a very unfortunate hairdo.

It's not just huskies either. Apparently, dog owners should be very specific at the groomer.

Sadly, cats have also not been spared similar humiliation.

The good news is, it seems like this very good boy does not care about his ridiculous-looking haircut.
this morning he really wouldn’t drop his favorite toy for breakfast, he just wanted to play pic.twitter.com/Nn0W4xdvHF

That's one of the many great things about dogs: So long as they know they are loved, the rest doesn't matter.
here he is sound asleep under the covers (this is favorite thing when he sleeps with me) he’s really unbothered but omg I love him to death I would literally DIE for him pic.twitter.com/gMpNXgm3Jq

Here he is giving his mommy a kiss. If he doesn't blame her, then neither should we.
