Lately, the unfortunate trend in retail can make it feel like brick-and-mortar is on a steady decline as closures across major stores mount—including some that are disappearing entirely. But despite the ongoing downsizing, not all companies are cutting corners and scaling back their physical locations. Now, Target says it’s opening 32 new stores in the coming months.

Target's new locations will be scattered across the U.S.
Even though the company already claims to have a location within 10 miles of every doorstep in the U.S., Target recently announced it will be expanding its physical footprint. The nearly three dozen new stores will be spread across 15 states, with some states welcoming multiple locations, per the company’s website. The latest openings will add to the retailer’s existing 1,963 stores.
The company says it takes careful consideration when choosing where to plant a new bullseye. “We look at a number of factors, like how we can best meet a community’s needs, site constraints, other area Target stores, and more,” the company says on its website. “And each step of the way, we work closely with local officials and guests to develop stores that truly make shopping easy, inspiring, and affordable."
