Celebrities choose to live their lives in the spotlight, but their kids, on the other hand, usually don't get a choice. Take Chip and Joanna Gaines, for example. The couple from Waco, Texas, first found fame in 2013 when their show Fixer Upper premiered on HGTV and became a surprise smash hit. The show often featured the couple's four children: Drake, Ella, Duke, and Emmie. The pair went on to add a fifth child to their family after the final episode of Fixer Upper aired in 2018. At the time they announced the end of the series, Joanna said they were planning to "step back and just get kind of fresh vision, get some rest, but also just hunker down with our kiddos." But soon thereafter, the Gaineses revealed they'd be back with a new Fixer Upper 2.0 on their own network, Magnolia. This time, however, we may be seeing less of the Gaines kids. During a recent interview with People, Joanna shared that her children "don't necessarily love" being on TV, so when it comes to their new series, they'll be doing things a bit differently. For the upcoming revival of Fixer Upper—which will launch in 2021—the Gaines kids may not be so omnipresent. "We want to be smart when it comes to our kids," Joanna told People. "When we first started the show, they were younger, and since they’re a part of so much of what we do, it was just organic to include them. But toward the end I started noticing, they don’t necessarily love this."

Going forward, the Gaineses are leaving the kids' level of participation up to them. "Now, if they volunteer to be a part, we are more than happy, but we never want to just force it for a scene. They can make that choice. We'll see as much of the kids as they want to give us," Joanna explained.

While some of the Gaines children seem to love the camera, others have tended to shy away from the spotlight.
