With 10 kids in the family—some nearly three decades apart—it's no surprise that getting a complete family photo is a rare occurrence for the Murphy clan. The family does appear to gather for holidays, however, often sharing snaps in front of the Christmas tree on social media.

While the actor has reportedly forbidden his children from working in Hollywood before they turn 18, that hasn't stopped several of his kids from ultimately stepping into the spotlight. Murphy's second-eldest child, Bria, has starred in several projects, including the 2017 drama Conflict of Interest. More recently, the actor allowed his teenage daughter, Bella, to break the age rule to act alongside her father in Coming 2 America, a sequel to his 1988 hit Coming to America.
"Originally I asked to be an extra," Bella told Yahoo! News of how she came to land the role. "I think he just saw how passionate I really was about it," she said of her father's change of heart in allowing her to audition. The pair appeared on the cover of Essence magazine to promote the movie, an achievement she called "insane."

When asked about his role as a father, the Nutty Professor star shared with Mirror UK that fatherhood helps guide all of his life decisions these days. "I am going to be 60 in April and I have all these babies," he told the publication. "I love fatherhood. That is the center of everything…Along the way I realized that if you put your children first you never make a bad decision," he added.
It helps, he says, that all 10 of his kids are such a pleasure to be around. "My kids are such great, normal people—and nobody is like the Hollywood jerk kid. My kids are smart and are trying to do stuff. I am blessed with my kids. I really, really got lucky," he shared.
In 2018, Murphy welcomed his youngest son, Max, with his fiancée Paige Butcher. Just five months later, the famous father of 10 also became a grandfather of one when his son Miles had his first child.
While speaking with Vanity Fair in 2020, the stand-up legend said he feels that in recent years, life has been "raining blessings" on him. "My oldest son is 30, and my youngest child was 10 months old, and I got a new grandchild," said Murphy, then 58. "Things happen in cycles, and right now I'm in a cycle where there's no higher blessing than having a child. There's no sweeter blessing than seeing your grandchild," he gushed.
