Sequels get a bad rap—often for a good reason. Sure, there have been some legitimately great sequels over the years, but there have also been a slew of regrettable, unnecessary, and all-around awful follow-ups. There's a reason the genre is so frequently maligned. With that in mind, we turned to the critics for a list of the worst movie sequels of all time, knowing there would be some stiff competition.
Thankfully, review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes keeps an updated list of the most poorly reviewed sequels ever made. We defaulted to their ranking, which uses an algorithm based on the number of bad reviews but also the stature of critics surveyed, so don't be surprised to find some films with higher percentages ranked below films with a lower rating. Regardless, all of these movies have been deemed thoroughly rotten. Read on to find out which sequel is the worst of the worst, and for more terrible turkeys, discover The Worst Movies of All Time, According to Critics.
