This Is What Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise's Kids Together Look Like Now
They've spent years avoiding the limelight. Now here's a glimpse into their world.
Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise kept a notoriously private family life in raising their two kids, Connor Cruise and Isabella "Bella" Cruise. The A-list couple famously adopted their brood in the early '90s at the height of their power couple stardom, before calling their marriage quits in 2001. Since then, Kidman and Cruise have remained tight-lipped about their children, who have shied away from the spotlight during their formative years.
That's why it came as a surprise when Bella shared a rare mirror selfie this week on Instagram, to the delight of fans. "All that glitters is gold.. oh wait, it's just another Instagram filter," the 27-year-old captioned her Aug. 25 post. Though Bella, who now lives in London, typically uses the account to share her artwork and products from her clothing line, this was the second of two recent selfies giving fans a rare glimpse into her world.
Connor, too, has kept a low profile when it comes to his public life. Now 25, he reportedly lives in Clearwater, Florida in a home he shares with his famous father. An avid deep sea fisherman, Connor frequently shares pictures of himself posing with the catch of the day.
According to People, the Kidman-Cruise kids practice Scientology, and this remains a central part of their bond with their father. In a letter written by Bella that was published last year, she opened up about training to become an "auditor"—a high-ranking member of the church that guides others through supposedly therapeutic "self-examination" sessions using an E-meter. Connor's move to Clearwater was reportedly made in an effort to be closer to the Scientology headquarters there.
And as for Kidman? The Big Little Lies star hasn't appeared in public with her two eldest children in years (she now lives in Nashville, Tennessee and shares two daughters with country music star Keith Urban). Many speculate that it was Scientology that drove a wedge between them, though Kidman insists that she accepts their choices. "They are adults. They are able to make their own decisions," she told Australia's WHO Magazine. "They have made choices to be Scientologists and as a mother, it's my job to love them."
