Britney Spears' Boyfriend Just Slammed Her Dad on Instagram
Sam Asghari said on Instagram that he has "zero respect for someone trying to control [their] relationship."
In the wake of a new documentary about Britney Spears, fans and fellow celebrities have been speaking out in support of the pop star, who has been placed under a conservatorship since 2008 that has given control of her finances to her father, Jamie Spears. (At one point, he was also in charge of her general decisions, too, including those involving her heath.) The New York Times film, titled Framing Britney Spears, focuses on that conservatorship, the #FreeBritney movement in which fans argue that the legal agreement should end, and Britney's life story leading up to this point. Now, Britney's boyfriend, Sam Asghari, has broken his own silence on the conservatorship and is voicing his anger at his girlfriend's father in a new Instagram Story.

Asghari said he has "zero respect" for Britney's father on his Instagram Story.
Britney was placed under a conservatorship, with her father named as the conservator, in 2008 when she was 26, which is the subject of the Framing Britney Spears documentary. The court-ruled conservatorship followed the psychiatric hold she experienced that year, as well as other personal struggles in the wake of her divorce from Kevin Federline, with whom she has two children.
Asghari didn't come into Britney's life until 2016. Now, due to the increased attention on the situation because of the new documentary, which was released on Hulu and FX on Feb. 5, Asghari is expressing his outrage on Instagram. On Feb. 9, he posted the following on his Instagram Story, specifically calling out Britney's dad.
"Now it's important for people to understand that I have zero respect for someone trying to control our relationship and constantly throwing obstacles our way. In my opinion Jamie is a total ****," Asghari wrote. "I won't be going into details because I've always respected our privacy but at the same time I didn't come to this country to not be able to express my opinion and freedom."

The night before his explosive Instagram post, he released a much more tempered statement to People.
Prior to this unfiltered message about Britney's father, Asghari gave a statement to People about his relationship with the singer, with the magazine noting the 27-year-old actor and personal trainer was "moved to speak out" following the documentary's release.
"I have always wanted nothing but the best for my better half, and will continue to support her following her dreams and creating the future she wants and deserves," Asghari said. "I am thankful for all of the love and support she is receiving from her fans all over the world, and I am looking forward to a normal, amazing future together."
While Asghari didn't explicitly mention the conservatorship at that point, nor in the Instagram, his comment that he is "looking forward to a normal, amazing future together" speaks to the idea of the conservatorship ending or changing. Britney is currently taking legal action to have her father removed as her conservator, with her next hearing set for Feb. 11.

Soon, they ended up having a sushi dinner date. "We talked at the music video [and] we talked about what do you like to eat, sushi," he said.
