Watch Tesla's New Roadster Do Zero-to-60 in Under 2 Seconds
Yes, it's the fastest production car ever built.
Tesla just unveiled its new Roadster, paving the way for the future of cars. With an insane acceleration that allows the car to go from 0 to 60 mph in just 1.9 seconds, it will be the first car to ever break two seconds at that speed, officially making it the fastest production vehicle ever made.
And that's not the only reason it's a world record-breaker. According to CEO Elon Musk, it will also be the fastest to make it to 100 mph (4.2 seconds), and the first one to be able to go a quarter mile in just 8.9 seconds.
There's nothing quite like seeing it in person, of course, but this video made by Tesla gives a good sense of its gravity-defying powers. So check it out. And for more on whiplash-inducing rides, here are 10 New Cars That Are Instant Collectibles.
To see it in action, you can also check out this video from Thursday night's livestream at the Tesla Semi event, where it was unveiled.
While the car isn't set to launch until 2020, you can reserve a Founder's Series edition now by paying $5,000 right away and the remaining $245,000 in the following 10 days.
