It's July and Some Stores Are Already Selling Christmas Decorations
Is five months too soon to start celebrating?
We interrupt this broadcast to bring you a very important message: It's July and some stores are already putting up their Christmas decorations.
Some brave homeowners have even dusted off their sleigh and snowmen displays and proudly pitched them in their front yards.
Even the most prominent house in the country is getting in the holiday spirit. Last week, First Lady Melania Trump shared that "Christmas planning has begun" in the White House.
On the other side of the pond, major London department store Selfridges opened its Christmas store a full 149 days early.
"We have so many customers visiting from all over the world, eager to snap up festive decorations and souvenirs on their London summer holidays which they can't buy at home," Selfridges Christmas buyer Eleanor Gregory told The Independent. "Our summer Christmas shop launch simply addresses the growing demand for convenience Christmas shopping outside the traditional Christmas season from many of our customers."
And, last week, a pub in Bristol, England, gained significant media attention for reportedly being the "first in Britain" to put up a Christmas tree during the sweltering summer.
It may all seem like a bit much, but, on the other hand, if you want to get into the Christmas spirit early, go right ahead. After all, studies have shown that putting up Christmas decorations early can make people happier. So, decorate on!
