Walmart Has an Exciting New Surprise for These 6 States

The massive retailer is hosting a special event in college towns across America.

It's officially football season, and despite the coronavirus pandemic, the games have begun. But while your favorite teams are playing in stadiums with barely any spectators, one major retailer has decided to bring the fun to you. Walmart just announced that they will be surprising fans with a game-day event in six different college towns across the U.S. The extravaganza will include tailgating, marching bands, cheerleaders, local food trucks, and school spirit shops to get all the best swag. Read on for more about where Walmart's game day event is headed, and for another new development, Walmart Just Launched a Brand-New Line That's Two Years in the Making.

"For many of us, football tailgates … are cornerstones of a great fall season," William White, Walmart's chief marketing officer, said in a statement on Oct. 12. "These additional events will give customers an opportunity to still celebrate the things they love, while staying safe."

There will also be Halloween activities, such as trick-or-treating at 100 branches across America. Starting on Oct. 15, Walmart will dress up its store parking lots as socially-distanced "spooky streets," where families can come in costumes and enjoy the ghoulish holiday. If you'd prefer to keep the kiddos at home, Walmart is launching virtual Halloween-themed game nights, starring Tony Award-winning actor Neil Patrick Harris.

Though Walmart has yet to release the official college towns where these game-day festivities will be, the retailer has identified the states that will be hosting the parties. Colorado

Besides being one of the most vibrant cities in the state, Boulder is also home to the University of Colorado. It's likely that the Walmart extravaganza will be held nearby.

Thanks to the Vikings and the Gophers, the Twin Cities are central to Minnesota's sports scene. We expect that a Walmart in the area will plan for the tailgate. And for more useful information delivered straight to your inbox, sign up for our daily newsletter.
