This Woman's Hilarious Joke About Getting Older Will Make Your Day
Here's the super-clever Facebook post everyone is liking right now.
It's no secret that, once you get into a certain age range, people start treating you differently. When you were younger, it was all, "Take a chance! One drink won't hurt! Live a little!" Then, when you get older, it's all, "Don't eat that! Don't do that! Careful, you'll break a hip!" Life, all of a sudden, starts to feel very limited in its options.
Perhaps that's why this Facebook post by Van Buren, Arkansas native Carole McCann Willimason has gone so viral.
On Saturday, she wrote, "Yesterday I had my annual Medicare wellness check. The nurse said that at my age I should have a bar in the shower. So I took her advice." This was the photo accompanying the caption:
In case you didn't immediately get it: her nurse said that "at her age" she should have a bar in her shower, by which she meant a physical bar that she could hold onto to prevent her from slipping and falling. While that's not bad advice—statistics show bathroom slips are the top cause of injuries for the elderly in the US—you can't help but admire the way Williamson reacted to the suggestion. After all, having a good sense of humor and a positive attitude are some of the personality traits scientifically proven to extend your life.
Since it went up on Saturday, the tweet has amassed over 49K likes and more than 123,000 shares. Not all heroes wear capes. But some of them clearly drink Cabernet Sauvignon. And for more amazing zingers, don't miss the 75 Jokes So Bad They're Actually Funny.
