With coronavirus cases climbing now in nearly all 50 states, it's hard to find good news no matter what corner of the U.S. you're in. But as medical experts continue to monitor the deepening crisis, which has been gripping the Midwest for months, there's another area that some are raising the alarm about. The federal government's top experts are warning that the Sun Belt, where the virus surged over the summer, could be the nation's next COVID hotspot region… again. Read on to learn more, and for changes coming to your area, check out These 22 States Are Starting to Lock Down Again.

In reports issued on Nov. 1 and obtained by CNN, the White House coronavirus task force points out that there is now "significant deterioration in the Sun Belt as mitigation efforts were decreased over the past five weeks." Unfortunately, an updated report released on Nov. 8 found that conditions have only worsened in the region, "leading to the most diffuse spread experienced to date."

The news also comes the same week that California and Texas became the first two states to surpass one million total coronavirus cases each since the beginning of the pandemic.

The task force specifically called out certain Sun Belt states to change their tactics, and the figures for these southernmost states paint a troubling picture for the coming days. Read on to find out which Sun Belt states are struggling, listed from percentage increases from bad to worst, according to data from The Washington Post on Nov. 12.
