Check Out Robert Pattinson's Shredded New Body—Photos
The Twilight star is sporting a serious six-pack these days.
James McAvoy isn't the only Hollywood actor who's gone from petite and pasty to a beefy muscle machine.
Robert Pattinson has recently been photographed jogging on the beach in Antigua without a shirt on, looking considerably more muscular than usual.
Though the 31-year-old actor became a tween hearthtrob precisely because of his lean, vampiric appeal, he himself has previously expressed dismay at his ectomorphic frame.
In 2013, at the height of his Twilight fame, he told one Australian magazine that he experienced "body dysmorphia" and "tremendous anxiety" at red carpet events because of his appearance.
"I've been like that my whole life," he said. "I never want to take my shirt off. I'd prefer to get drunk."
It's worth noting that body dysmorphia is a serious disorder that can plague anyone, regardless of their shape and size, and that the idea that a man needs to be ripped in order to be attractive represents an outdated myth of masculinity.
That being said, if he felt he needed to have six-pack abs to be comfortable with taking off his shirt, then more power to him! The Internet certainly doesn't mind his new look.
Pattinson has not publicly addressed his body transformation, and it's unclear if his new look is for a movie or just for himself. It's worth noting that his current projects are certainly a gritty departure from the blockbuster romance that shot him to stardom. In his latest film, Good Time, he plays a bank robber trying to get his mentally impaired brother out of prison, whatever the cost.
As for the workout, based on the photos, it looks like he and his trainer are doing some classic movies designed to build muscle, like lifting heavy bags over his head and throwing them on the ground.
