People Can't Get Over Paul Rudd's Ageless Appearance

"Paul Rudd, what dark bargain have you cut with the Gods of Time."

There are a lot of celebrities out there who never seem to age. At 47 years-old, Winona Ryder still has the same dewey skin and doe-like eyes we first fell in love with when she played a teenager in Heathers. And thanks to a super healthy lifestyle and some celebrity secrets, 49-year-old Jennifer Lopez looks almost exactly the way she did when she first danced into our hearts in 1999. But, following the Academy Awards ceremony last night, the Internet is abuzz over another ageless celebrity you might have forgotten about: Paul Rudd.

As a refresher, here he is in the 1995 film Clueless.

And here he is today.

What sorcery is this?!

If he ever needs to play a younger version of himself in a movie, they are not even going to need to use anti-aging software.

No wonder he was presenting the award for Best Visual Effects. He's the best visual effect out in the industry.

Even New Yorker TV critic Emily Nussbaum had to comment.

Bradley Cooper, who was up for several awards last night for A Star is Born but did not win, has previously commented on Rudd's apparent immortality. Speaking in a behind-the-scenes Netflix featurette on the 2015 prequel Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp, he said, "It's amazing how everyone looks—Paul Rudd looks the same."

Unlike other ageless celebrities, Paul Rudd isn't particularly known as being a fitness junkie or an apostle of healthy eating. He very much seems like the kind of guy who would greet you in his boxers with a bucket of fried chicken and invite you in to watch the game if you happened to knock on his door. So what gives?!

Granted, the 49-year-old did have to get into superhero shape for his role in the 2015 movie Ant-Man. At the time, he told Variety that he "took the Chris Pratt approach to training for an action movie. Eliminate anything fun for a year and then you can play a hero."

He elaborated a bit to People, saying he's "never exercised harder than this for an extended amount of time," and that his regime included "flips and rolls and all that kind of stuff."

"My day was centered around fitness and health, and that was kind of a first," he said. "Every other time, I had to go about my day and try and find the time to work out. But [this time] everything else about my day kind of had to fit in around the workouts. I was going to be held accountable for it, and there was a reason for doing it. I wasn't just randomly doing this kind of arbitrarily, which would have made it a lot harder."

He also went a full year without alcohol or carbs, a diet he admitted was "almost kind of impossible to sustain."

But that was A) four years ago and B) does not explain why he has skin like a baby's bottom and not even a hint of crow's feet.

There's really only one logical explanation.

Or perhaps—just perhaps—being a super nice person really is the key to the fountain of youth.
