A 70-Year Old Woman Won $100,000 in the Lottery, Then She Played Again and Won $300,000. "Absolute Insanity"

Winning the lottery once is incredibly good luck—but what are the odds of not only winning twice but twice in one day? That's what happened to a Delaware woman who claims she won two prizes back to back after claiming her prize on October 20.
The 70-year-old winner first got lucky, winning $100,000 with a scratch card, and decided to buy lottery tickets to celebrate her win. Amazingly, one of the three tickets was another winner, to the tune of $300,000. "We just sat there in disbelief," the woman says. Here's where she bought the winning tickets and what she plans to do with the money.
According to a news release from the Delaware Lottery, the anonymous winner was thrilled with her first win. "A 70-year-old woman from Newark, who wished to remain anonymous, was thrilled to discover she was a $100,000 winner after scratching two $100K ULTIMATE CASH Instant Game ticket she purchased from Speedy Gas in Newark. After about a week, she visited Lottery Headquarters to claim her top prize, saying that it was her biggest win since she began playing the Delaware Lottery seven years ago."
"But the woman's lucky day wasn't over just yet," Delaware Lottery continues. "On her way home, she decided to celebrate by purchasing three SERIOUS MONEY tickets from N. Dover Tiger Mart in Dover. Amazingly, one of the tickets turned out to be a $300,000 top prize winner."
The anonymous woman was shocked to win twice in one day. "My best friend was the first person I told about winning the $100,000 top prize, and she came with me to claim it," she said. "When I scratched the $300,000 winning SERIOUS MONEY ticket later in the day, we just sat there in disbelief. It was absolute insanity."
According to the Delaware Lottery, the odds of winning the 100K Ultimate Cash Instant Game ticket are 1 in 120,000. The odds of winning the Serious Money ticket are 1 in 150,000. The tickets cost $20 for Ultimate Cash Instant Game and $30 for Serious Money.
"The pair soon returned to Lottery Headquarters to claim the woman's $300,000 top prize, making her total winnings for the day $400,000, and October 20, 2022, a day she won't soon forget," the press release continues. "The woman said she plans to put most of the prize money into her retirement fund. When asked if there was anything else she wanted to share about her win, the woman said, 'Just that I love scratching Instant Game tickets!'"
