The Real Reason Queen Camilla Was Allegedly Behind Prince William's Breakup With Kate Middleton, Royal Expert Claims

The Princess wasn’t always so beloved to all, including members of the Royal Family.

Prince William's wife, Kate Middleton, seems to be adored by everyone, from members of the Royal Family to the press. In fact, when Meghan Markle started dating Prince Harry, she maintains that she was painted as the rival to the future King's wife, who was usually portrayed as the victim and herself as the villain. This is why it is hard to imagine that there was a time when the elegant Princess wasn't quite as beloved by all.

In fact, starting from when she was just a schoolgirl dating Prince William at university up until William proposed to her with his mother, Princess Diana's, iconic sapphire ring, the media portrayed her as a working class party girl. And, according to reports, there was one member of the Royal Family in particular who wasn't a fan, going as far as talking William into breaking up with her. The person? Queen Consort Camilla.

Kate met the future King of England while attending St. Andrews University in Scotland. The famous story surrounding their romance is that Will first spotted the brunette beauty on the catwalk of their university fashion show.

They started out as friends, ended up roommates, and then a secret couple, and their romance was first revealed in 2004 during a ski trip in Switzerland. While they seemed ever the happy couple for a few years, they split up in 2007.

People Were Allegedly Shocked Over the Split

According to royal expert Christopher Andersen, Queen Camilla was behind the breakup. Why? She didn't think she was good enough for her stepson. "I was in London when the breakup [of William and Kate] occurred. I was shocked, completely stunned, everyone thought it was only a matter of time before William was going to ask Kate to marry him. And then people started telling me that Camilla was behind it," Andersen told The Daily Beast, per Express).

Camilla is an "Aristocrat"

Andersen continued, "Camilla is a bit of a snob." "She's an aristocrat, she has always been moving in royal circles. She had always thought of herself as the heiress to Alice Keppel, her great-grandmother, who was the mistress of Edward VII," he added. "She was very proud of that connection, she boasted about that as a child and as an adult and that's what she intended to be; part of the royal circle in the role of mistress to the future King, and then the King."

She Allegedly Didn't Think That Kate Was "Worthy" of Being a Royal

"She did not look at Kate as someone who was worthy of joining the Royal Family," Andersen continued. "Kate is the first working-class woman to be accepted into the Royal Family. She is descended from coal miners and her mother was a flight attendant." "So for all those reasons Camilla never really felt that Kate Middleton as an individual and the Middleton family as a whole were going to be worthy of entering into the Royal Family," he said.

Camilla Allegedly Told Charles to "Force" William to Make a Decision

"I was told at the time of the breakup, and later on as well, that Camilla basically whispered in Charles's ear that it was really time to make—to force—William to make a decision one way or the other," he continued. "It has been since confirmed publicly that Charles did suggest to William that he either make a commitment to Kate or basically set her free, as it were. Now, his motives for doing that may have been pure but Camilla's…not so much. She was the instigator of this."
