There's a New Alphabet Song and People Are Reacting Very Strongly to It
We realize the "L, M, N, O, P" is tricky, but did we really need a whole new alphabet song?

If you're like most people, you probably still need to sing the alphabet song in your head when putting something in alphabetical order. So, you know that part where you rush through "L, M, N, O, P" and it kind of sounds like "elemenopee"? Well, there's now a new version of the alphabet song that aims to get rid of this pesky problem and finally give those five letters their due. But traditionalists are up in arms.
The new alphabet song was created by DreamEnglish.com, a website that aims to "make educational music that is not only filled with important phrases and grammar, but is also enjoyable to listen to." If you give it a listen, you'll see that it's basically the same melody, but with a tempo change so that you end up singing "O" where you would usually sing "Q."
The effect is oddly unnerving, and the fact that it sounds—with all due respect to the musician—like it's being sung by the clown from It doesn't help.
The new alphabet song went viral after Noah Garfinkel, a screenwriter and producer, shared it on Twitter on Friday.

How will kids today learn that "elemenopee" is not a word?
if these new age kids don't say "ELLEMINOHPEE" like the rest of us

The only remix we will accept is one that includes the national treasure that is Patti LaBelle.
