The school year has officially begun and there seems to be just as much uncertainty, frustration, and trepidation about opening schools for in-person learning as was anticipated over the summer. With states taking a variety of approaches—from a hybrid of in-person and remote classes to teachers educating in-person classes via video—it's clear there is no singular solution for when it comes to education in the time of COVID. What is also clear, is that reopening schools right now is far more dangerous in some states than it is in others. Read on to learn more and for the truth on who's spreading COVID, here's Who You're Most Likely to Get COVID From, according to new research.

Personal finance website WalletHub just released the findings of their study on how safe it is to open schools in every U.S. state. To arrive at their conclusions, the researchers at WalletHub compared states using 15 key metrics, including things like the number of confirmed child COVID-19 cases per 100,000 children, the average size of a public school class in the state, and the ratio of students to school nurses. Scoring each metric on a weighted scale, each state was given a total score (100.00 being the safest possible). WalletHub also ranked all 50 states in terms of the health and financial infrastructure of their public school system, their level of COVID risk, and an overall rank for how safe it is to open schools right now. In all metrics, 1 is considered the safest and 50 is the least safe. Taking all of that into account, here are the five most dangerous states for opening schools right now.
