Meghan Markle As the Next Bond Girl? It Almost Happened.
But producers decided against it at the last minute.
Meghan Markle may have had a tough upbringing, and a slow start in the entertainment industry, but she's sure riding high now, and not just because she was on a hit TV show and is now engaged to a prince. (As far as that last one, Here's How Prince Harry Popped the Question.)
Just when we thought we couldn't get any more jealous of the 36-year-old beauty, it turns out she was up for a role arguably even more coveted than that of princess: the next Bond girl.
According to the Sun, producers had been eyeing Markle, along with four other actresses, as a possible love interest for Daniel Craig in Bond 25, whose release is slated for November 8, 2019.
Once the producers found out she was dating Prince Harry, however, she was immediately disqualified. And now that she confirmed, in her joint interview BBC engagement interview, that she will be leaving Suits and putting her acting career on pause, the chances of her starring in the iconic franchise have dwindled to zero.
With her eye on the wedding in May 2019, as well as charity work, she's got bigger plans anyway, though. As for the Bond girl shortlist, the rumors are that Cara Delevingne, Margot Robbie, and Charlize Theron are being considered, which are plenty fine options—and it's a list that resembles the 15 Supermodels Who Made It As A-List Actresses.
