This Is the Song That Moved Meghan Markle to Tears
Plus: Why Ed Sheeran is the latest artist rumored to be performing at the royal wedding
Everything was "Perfect."
With less than 100 days until their wedding, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle must have a full slate of decisions to make: Who will walk the bride to be down the aisle? Should they invite Fergie (Prince Andrew's ex, not the singer)? Should they dispense with the traditional wedding frosted fruit cake and go with their favorite banana recipe?
All will be revealed in good time.
But we just might have found out what their wedding song will be.
Rumors have long been swirling that Ed Sheeran would be asked to perform at the wedding, and judging by Meghan's reaction to hearing one of the singer's hits on the couple's first official trip to Scotland earlier this week, it's a fair bet he'll be singing his hit, "Perfect," if he does.
During the reception for Scotland's Year of Young People 2018 at the Palace of Holyroodhouse—which celebrates youth achievements—a young choir from Impact Arts performed the song for the pair after hearing reports Sheeran might be asked to sing at the royal wedding.
Harry broke out into a big smile while Meghan was so moved by the song she was reportedly near tears. One student told People, "To see the smiles on their faces as we sung is something we'll always treasure. Meghan said it was wonderful singing and that they really enjoyed it."
A member of the choir told local media, "A little birdie told us that Ed Sheeran would be playing at an upcoming wedding. But if that falls through, our diary is free."
Sheeran said in December that he'd met the newly engaged prince only once, but the singer was recently at Buckingham Palace for a chat with Prince Charles. The singer was awarded an MBE (Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) in the Queen's Birthday Honours List last year.
Harry and Meghan's reception could turn out to be quite the musical event besides being the wedding of the year. Just last week, Sir Elton John, a long time friend of Prince Harry, cancelled two concerts in Las Vegas that coincided with the May 19th wedding at Windsor Chapel citing "scheduling conflicts."
