Man Uses Kit Kat Bar to Propose to Girlfriend, Goes Viral
You may remember him as the man who doesn't know how to eat a Kit Kat bar.
Several weeks ago, reporter Haley Byrd posted a photo of her boyfriend Evan Wilt eating a Kit Kat bar in a way that offends chocolate-lovers all over the world. Rather than breaking off a piece, as the company's jingle clearly instructs, he savagely bit into the entire bar.
"'I don't think I've ever had a Kit Kat before,' my boyfriend remarks before doing THIS," Byrd wrote. The tweet immediately went viral, with many people telling Byrd that this was clearly a deal breaker and she needed to head for the hills immediately. Even CNN anchor Jake Tapper weighed in.
Byrd thanked the Internet for its concern, but said that "Kit Kat crimes aside" her man is "still a keeper."
Clearly, this is an example for true love, because not every woman can overlook such an egregious offense to candy.
Well, on July 4th, Wilt proved that her devotion to him was not in vain, as he got down on one knee in front of the Washington Monument and proposed with a ring inside a 3-D printed Kit Kat bar.
Byrd said yes, despite the fact that, according to her caption, "He still doesn't know how to eat a Kit Kat."
The company took to Twitter to congratulate the couple themselves, saying they were happy to help him get 3-D prinouts of the bar to make this unique proposal come true (for the record, this is an infinitely cuter idea than the avocado proposal, because it's special).
The happy couple later celebrated with a giant Kit Kat cake that said, "Twitter may have said break up, but we're glad you didn't."
No word on whether or not their wedding will also be Kit Kat-themed. And another incredible tale of romance courtesy of the Internet, check out This Epic Real-Life Love Story One Passenger Live-Tweeted on an Airplane.
