Kim Kardashian's Latest Nude Selfie Is Her Most Controversial Yet—Photos
Surprisingly, it has nothing to do with her bare body.
Kim Kardashian, 37, is a vocal supporter of nude selfies, particularly when it comes to using them to show that mothers don't need to compromise on their sexuality. Perhaps that's why KK has been blessing the world with plenty of nudes ever since her new baby, Chicago West, came into the world earlier this month via surrogate.
But while the other nudes failed to make much of a splash on social media, her brand new batch have everyone talking–but not for the reasons you might think.
On Monday night, Kim debuted a mini-series of photos in which she's baring it all in nothing but a high-waisted white thong and a fur coat.
Believe it or not, it's not the coat that drew the ire of the Internet, however. Instead, it was her cornrows, a hairstyle that is considered to be an act of cultural appropriation when carried out by someone who is not African American. What made it worse was that, in her Snapchat story, Kim debuted the hairstyle as "Bo Derek braids," in reference to the white 1980s star Bo Derek, who popularized the controversial look.
On her television show on Tuesday, Wendy Williams criticized Kim for the nudes, saying, "It's clear that Kanye has nothing for you except dribble and feeble conversation," she said. "It is clear that Kanye does not pay attention to you. It's clear to me that you are desperate, desperately trying to stay in the spotlight… Why are you still doing this? It's not even about the mother thing. Forget the mother thing. You're a mother. A lot of people would say she's a mother. It's about, she doesn't have to do that anymore."
Lindsay Lohan also slammed the new look, writing on her Instagram that the braids were "confusing." Kim immediately snapped back, writing that the only thing that was confusing was her "sudden foreign accent."
