Hilarious Husband Poses for "Maternity" Photos to Cheer Up Pregnant Wife, Succeeds Spectacularly
A picture really is worth a thousand words.
If you've ever been pregnant, you know how excited an expecting mother can get about her maternity photoshoot. So you can imagine how disappointed Kelsey Brewer of Frankfort, Kentucky, was when she was placed on bedrest on the week of her scheduled maternity photos.
Little did she know that Jared Brewer, her husband, and professional photographer Kiana Smither, her sister, were planning a special surprise to brighten her mood.
"Kelsey was 32 weeks pregnant at the time, which is extremely early to be put on bedrest and have concerns, so she was really down," Smither told Best Life. "So Jared had the idea to do the maternity pictures with him instead to make her feel better."
And so it was that, last Wednesday, the two of them traveled to Elkhorn Creek to snap up some surprisingly picturesque photos.
"We were actually going to put him in her maternity dress, but he couldn't fit in it," she said. "It was hard to get through the shoot because we couldn't stop laughing."
Their plan totally worked. When they showed Kelsey the finished results, she found them hysterical, and she was extremely moved by the romantic gesture.
"It really did life her spirits a lot, and that was our goal," Smither said.
"It's not too out of character for my husband to do something to make someone else happy, but I did not anticipate him doing a full-blown photoshoot," Kelsey, who gave birth to a beautiful baby boy over the weekend, told Best Life. "It honestly made me cry because it's such a great thing for him to do."
Smither posted the photos on her professional Facebook page on September 25th, and they quickly went viral, gaining over 58,000 likes and 44,000 shares in less than a week.
"This is the sweetest story!" one Facebook user commented. "His wife is the luckiest that he would do something so embarrassingly sweet!"
While they were surprised by how much attention the photos received, the whole family is happy that other people are enjoying them as much as they do.
"Jared's really funny so he's just been cracking us up," Smither said. "He keeps doing this bit where he hands us his phone and says, 'Hold all my calls,' like he's this big, famous person. I always knew, in my heart, that one day he would be the reason that I would go viral."
