Watch Kate Middleton's Emotional Remarks on Children's Mental Health

The Royal Mum speaks out to support a favorite royal charity.

We rarely hear the Duchess of Cambridge speak, but when we do it's because she wants to lend her voice to causes close to her heart.

Kensington Palace just released a new video featuring Kate speaking out in support of Children's Mental Health Week, which kicked off on Monday. The new PSA highlights the duchess's work with Place2Be, a London-based charity organization which supports school-age children. She has been a patron of the charity since 2013. The video, which was recorded last month, features a confident and articulate Kate speaking directly to the camera as well as footage of the duchess spending time with young children, teachers and parents at Feltham's Reach Academy in west London.

"Childhood is an incredibly important moment in our lives," says the duchess in the video. "It is the time when we explore our personalities, discover the potential that lies within us and learn how to be ourselves. Our experience of the world at this early stage helps to shape who we become as adults and how we begin to feel comfortable in our own skin."

"Some children will be facing tougher challenges than others, but I firmly believe that while we cannot change their circumstances, we can ensure that every child is given the best possible support to ensure they fulfill their true potential," she continues. "This is best achieved when we, the adults in their lives, work together to give children the emotional strength they need to face their futures and thrive."

Kate, who is expecting her third child with Prince William in April, concludes her remarks in the video by saying, "When we are open and honest with each other about the challenges we face, we can work together to ensure the children in our care have the chance to become the best version of themselves."

The duchess, together with William and Harry launched their own mental health initiative, Heads Together, in 2016 with a mission to "change the conversation" about mental health. Since then, many of Kate's official appearance have involved raising awareness surrounding the issue and given her a higher profile among the royals. Kate and William recently returned from a three-day, royal tour of Sweden and Norway where she earned high praise for maintaining a jam-packed schedule of walkabouts and events while seven months pregnant despite the brutal cold.
