This Linen Suit is One Seriously Stylish Way to Cool Off
A stylish take on a menswear classic from the maestro of relaxed tailoring.
Regardless of what you may hear, the slim fit trend in menswear won't be disappearing anytime soon—especially when it comes to tailored wear. That said, the march of style evolution forever continues, and suits, along with everything else in our wardrobes, are slowly but surely entering into a new phase that we could accurately call the Great Casualization of male clothing. We're talking relaxed shoulders, unconstructed jackets, fluid trousers—all with the same streamlined, slender fit you've come to learn and love. The leader of this new, laissez faire approach to suits? Joseph Abboud, the maestro of relaxed tailoring.
"I realized I had something new to say," says Abboud, about the 30-year anniversary of his eponymous line. "Something that wasn't already out there." And surprising no one, that "something new" is a sight to behold: a tonal linen three-piece that looks more comfortable than a track suit. Even more impressive is that fact that this may be the world's only flattering three-button suit. (The cut is notorious for making wearers look shorter and wider.) To be sure, there is a distinct Miami Vice vibe going on here, but that's mitigated by the narrow waste, a style move—if we're being honest—that Crockett and Tubbs could've and should've definitely embraced.
Suit, $1,895; vest, $495; sweater, $250.
