The HBO star says life is "going to be weird for her."

There are a few people who, despite, ticking off at least one member of the royal family, are hoping against hope they still might score an invite to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding on May 19th.

There’s perpetual loose cannon Sarah, Duchess of York (who happens to be the mother of the other royal bride-to-be, Princess Eugenie), Meghan’s half-sister, Samantha Grant (who, after bad mouthing Meghan, has just now conveniently changed her last name back to “Markle”) and, of course, Donald Trump, who will all be very disappointed if they’re not on the guest list. In case you’re wondering, none of them should hold their breath waiting for the postman.

Then there’s John Oliver.

Last night, the host of HBO’s Last Week Tonight told Stephen Colbert he’s not particularly excited about the upcoming nuptials and said it’s not too late for the former Suits star to change her mind.

“I would not blame her if she pulled out of this at the last minute. I don’t think you need to have just seen the pilot episode of The Crown to get a basic sense of she might be marrying into a family that could cause her some emotional complications,” said Oliver. Like Harry, Oliver is British and married an American.

When Colbert noted this generation of younger royals “seem like nice people,” Oliver offered his own hilarious take on the royal family: “I mean, they are an emotionally stunted group of fundamentally flawed people doing a very silly pseudo job—that’s what she’s marrying into. So, I hope she likes it. It’s going to be weird for her,” Oliver said. “I would not marry into the royal family. I’m a commoner. I would not be welcome, especially after what I just said.”

We’re guessing his invite will be lost in the mail. And for more on the upcoming royal wedding, here’s the secret reason Meghan Markle wore that black suit.
