Jennifer Lopez is gracing the April cover of Harper’s Bazaar, and, as the photo of her swinging over skyscrapers in a dramatic red gown would imply, her life is at an all-time high.
The pop icon has achieved the perfect work-life balance. She’s still killing it at concerts and producing new music, but she’s also all loved up with her boyfriend of a little over a year, former New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez.
As impressive as her personal and professional achievements are, you can’t help but be even more bedazzled by the fact that, at 48 years old, the singer looks almost exactly the way she did when she first danced into our hearts in 1999. We already know her body is still bootilicious thanks to constant couples workouts. But what’s the secret to her J-Lo glow?
The Bronx native says it’s all about attitude.
“Affirmations are so important,” she told Harper’s Bazaar. “I am youthful and timeless. I tell myself that every day, a few times a day. It sounds like clichéd [nonsense], but it’s not: Age is all in your mind. Look at Jane Fonda.”
It’s true that Fonda, 80, is another marvel, thanks to an extremely consistent and dedicated skin regime. But it’s impossible not to notice that J-Lo’s isn’t just wrinkle-free; she’s got that fresh-faced vibrance that not even the best bronzer in the world could yield; a cherubian youthfulness that most people lose after the age of 40.
It’s her boyfriend who provides the real secret to her dewey complexion:
“She really leans in to the big fundamentals, like getting her rest, eight to 10 hours,” says Rodriguez. “She doesn’t drink, doesn’t smoke. She lives a very clean life.”
