Jenna Fischer Just Revealed This Massive Secret from "The Office"
Here's what Pam said to Michael during his last episode.
If you're a fan of The Office, one of your most burning questions probably has to do with the incredible scene at the end of the 22nd episode of season 7, when Michael Scott leaves Scranton (and the show), in order to start a new life with Holly in Colorado.
Michael manages to say goodbye to everyone except Pam, who gets to the office late because everyone thought he was leaving on the following day, but she catches him at the airport just before he boards the plane. She runs out to meet him at security, carrying her shoes, and they share a few words and a tearful hug. The show made the executive decision not to let us hear what they said, and while Pam says in an interview afterwards that he wasn't sad and was excited about his new life with Holly, we never got to know the words they actually exchanged, and it's been burning a whole through our hearts ever since.
In an Instagram live video on Tuesday, Jenna Fischer finally revealed what they said, and it's even more touching than we could have imagined. It turns out that both of them broke character, since it was also Steve Carell's last day on the hit show.
"That was me talking to Steve," Fischer said. "I told him all the ways I was going to miss him when he left our show. Those were real tears and a real goodbye. That was a really emotional scene."
Michael had a cameo in the show's final episode in Season 9, with a surprise appearance at Dwight and Angela's wedding, in what is largely considered to be one of the most moving moments in TV history.
So there, now we're all crying.
