Is Meghan Markle Pregnant?

The rumor mill is working overtime on royal baby bump watch.

Now that the wedding of the year is in the history books and Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, are enjoying life as the world's most popular newlyweds, rabid royal watchers have moved on to the next topic of fascination: is Meghan Markle pregnant? If the tabloids are to be believed, the answer is yes.

One weekly has already declared: "Meghan's Family Confirms: Baby On The Way Already!" The cover story boldly claims the revelation comes straight from Meghan's relatives. But given the nature of Meghan's strained familial relationships with everyone except her dignified and supportive mother, Doris Ragland and her mother's budding friendship with the royal family (especially Prince Charles), this seems extremely unlikely.

Still others fanning the flames of the "Is Meghan Markle pregnant?" rumors point to one of the sweetest moments of the royal wedding (of which there were many), when the Dean of Windsor said marriage was "the foundation of family life, in which children are born and nurtured," and a loving look was exchanged between the bride and groom when Harry turned and smiled at Meghan.

Finally, there's one more dubious piece of evidence that some royal enthusiasts say seem to indicate pregnancy—Meghan's wedding dress. Some critics have sniped that the stunning white satin Givenchy gown by Clare Waight Keller was ill-fitting, leading many to ask, "Is Meghan Markle Pregnant?" According to The Daily Mail, designer Emilia Wickstead, who frequently dresses Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, tweeted her criticism of the dress writing, "If you choose a simple design the fit should be perfect. Her wedding dress was quite loose." Her Twitter account was suspended after the comments were posted.

But there was no sign of a baby bump in the figure flattering halter top white gown by Stella McCartney that Meghan wore to the private black tie dinner after the wedding.

There is no doubt having children is definitely on the agenda for the newlyweds. My source close to the palace told me, "Everyone is so thrilled to see Meghan and Harry so happy. They are very much enjoying married life and will, in due course, make wonderful parents."

Harry has made no secret about wanting to be a father. As far back as 2012, the prince told ABC News, "I've longed for kids since I was very, very young. I'm waiting to find the right person. Someone who is willing to take on the job."

Now that he has, the prince said during his BBC interview with Meghan after their engagement the couple hope to start a family "in the near future."

So, the real answer to the question "Is Meghan Markle pregnant?" is: we'll have to wait and see.
